DL workshop map, Purgatory/electric boogaloo, it's much longer, you will be able to get a better feel if when changes happen the revs are to high or low.
Ideally you don't want the revs to drop below the @RPM of the torque, to get the max pull out of each gear.
A ball park setting for gears is the higher you go the gear ratio is 2/3 the value of the previous gear, then a little fine tuning from there.
First step is to add a few more gears to existing set up and find top speed, then workout how many gears you want, set the top gear just above the top speed and work backwards from there. so top gear you set looking at speed, the rest you set looking at ratio. Max ratio difference between 1st & 2nd is 2.0.
Final gear ration will give more acceleration with a lower number (to the right) at the cost of top speed, will need to add more gears to get the top end back without changing the rev range. Further to the left you will need a lot of HP to make it work.
For the Drag Strip, getting halfway down the track quicker than the other guy is better than having 10-20 MPH higher top speed. The fewer the gears the better.
For Race Track, lots of gears with in the upper rev range (close Ratio, above the @RPM of power), so always on the power no matter the speed coming out the corner.
For the Tiaga Fiora map, then the setup for the same car would be somewhere in between the Drag Strip and Race Track.
If you want to do a specific car give me details of changes to spec and purpose, and I will do a comparative build and share results.
