Removing Rust
How do I remove rust from the older cars I buy to re-furbish and sell. I've seen videos where the welder is used but all I get when I use the welder are a few sparks and the rust is till there. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welder works on frame/main body. Panels (fenders, bumpers etc.) need to be repaired at table in second room and you will need max repair skill.
So depending on which car you are working on you won't see much change if it has lots of additional panels, look at the roof or the condition stats (frame at 100%) on info page,to see if the welder has done something.

The rust just means some type of damage , Welder does the frame & Everything else has to be done on a workbench , There is a Big workbench for body parts & A smaller workbench for the drive-train parts of the vehicle , You can find more info / How to Videos on the YouTube website , Search : Car Mechanic Simulator 2021- For Beginners . Hope this helps

Thanks for that - it is really appreciated

Also, certain body components cannot be repaired. For instance, license plates, windows, and head\tail lights cannot be repaired and must be replaced if you're trying to fully restore a vehicle. Also, no part can be repaired if it has a condition below 15%.

Thanks for that - I have already come across some of these points but its always good to get a more rounded out view of things in general. Thanks

So I take it you haven't actually encountered a bug and things are working as intended.
BTW batteries can be recharged from 1%, I stumbled on that by accident.

Good point about the batteries - that was unexpected but a welcome addition. I'm not really aware of any particular bugs but I may have just missed them. I don't seem to be able to repair exhaust pieces but this could be because they aren't repairable in real life as far as I know. Its strange that I can repair clutch plates and brake shoes which again I don't think is possible in real life. It's a real fun game though and its interesting to keep finding out new things.

Yeah not all things are repairable and with some engine parts they maybe for one type and not another type of engine. All exhaust no but you can the manifolds.

I think some of it just comes down to the naming conventions, most air filter covers you can't, "round air filter cover" you can where the only real difference is the word round at the start compared to a couple of the other air filter covers.

Mercedes you can't repair mirrors but you can for all other cars. Just the Devs Gamifying the rules to make it more interesting. (ok that one maybe an oversight)

As mentioned above glass along with interiors can't be repaired, head and tail lights can't on vanilla but can on Mods. You'll get the hang of it soon enough, it's easier not to give it much thought, just repair what can then go shopping.

Being able to repair will make you the most profit on "Jobs" but when you are restoring your own cars to 100% there is enough profit in them not to be to concerned about buying all new parts. However there is satisfaction building Junkyard cars with all repaired parts, (other than the "consumables" plugs, rings, bushes etc.)

Yeah, some of the parts which can and can't be repaired does feel a little arbitrary.
