Probably mostly to find "unidentified" part if bush,brakes, etc.
Unlike the handheld tests which just require the car to crank, the test path needs the car to be fully start and be drivable, but it doesn't have to drive well, so fix any engine issue first then run the test path to check suspension. The test path detects the same problems the test drive does but it's faster. You can also align wheels and headlights there.
The test path is for suspension issues, obviously it's going to be useless if you have a broken engine, that's why you always fix the engine first.
