Important to note that the payment for that section of the job is costed to the cheapest parts to make minimum %, whereas all other listed job parts you get 2.6x new value plus "labour", with the tuning job only 100cr more than the cheapest parts cost.
So don't be using a 3k gearbox to get 1% when a 100cr airfilter will do. Also you can use scrap points to boost % on some lesser parts to help make minimum % needed.
The parts do not need to make sense, you can have only 2 of 8 spark plugs if they give the extra 1% needed.
Some of the jobs may have healthy payout on other sections (panel repairs) to offset the lack of profit on the tuned parts.
All jobs, don't do anymore than what is on the list, you won't get paid any more for the job and they won't even send you a Xmas card.
To complete an Order requiring the task of adding 10-15% in performance, here’s what you need, and nothing more.
1. Full Exhaust (Front to Rear)
2. Ignition Wires
3. Spark Plugs
4. Air Filter
5. Fuel Filter
Simple!
For cars that are 80% condition or more, I like to replace all the non-repairable parts, things like ignition coils, pistons, exhausts, ECUs, ignition wires, and so on. That's because I want those stock parts for my warehouse to fix repair orders down the line.
For cars that are under 50%, I hardly ever replace those non-repairable parts. I like to replace all the parts I can restore, things like clutch plates, transmissions, camshafts, exhaust manifolds, alternators, power steering pumps, engine heads, throttles, fuel rails, and so on. That's because I want those parts for crate engines and restorations.
For cars that are between 50% and 80%, I try to make it a point to loot the car of parts that I know I use a lot. Things like fuel pumps. I never met a car whose fuel pump I didn't want. Exhaust manifolds nearly always get looted and replaced.
Certain kinds of parts that are used across a lot of engines, like the power steering pump I4b, the throttle V6b, and fuel rail DI, seldom pass by without getting replaced on my tune jobs. I go through a lot of transmissions, especially for the common engine setups, so when I've got a car in for tune with a transmission I see a lot, like a V8 OHV or an I4, I leave an extra 1% so that I can replace that transmission, restore the old transmission, and keep it in the warehouse.
Things I hardly ever replace are filters; there's nothing I really can do with the old filters but just throw them away, so I only ever replace the air and fuel filters if I have to make up a percentage point or a fraction of one.
So go into the tune with a plan, and you'll come away with more than just a serious payday.
Tried this on two other customer cars...STILL cannot get it on the Dyno, nor does it recognize being tuned up.

PS. You CAN overshoot the target range, so do not put too many performance parts on either.
This means I can go to the other parts store (the ones that carry the "B" and "C" parts? I'm used to the old 2018 Car Mechanic Simulator game where you couldn't do that.
Tuning shop is what you're looking for. Not body parts.

FYI, if you put in a tuned ecu or carburetor, you can tune it some more in the dyno (if you have that purchased) by completing a small mini puzzle.
