It would be great if we could also manage the business and expand it. We could start by having a small garage, then hiring someone to work on the gas station to make some extra money and slowly expanding the garage to the point of having a dealership to sell the cars we restore.
I believe it would be much better if it worked on a day/month system.
For example: suppose you want to buy a part, it should only arrive a couple of days after you buy it, but you could pay extra to have it on the next or the same day, that way you would need to be careful with your budget because at the end of the month you had to pay the expenses (water, electricity, the worker on the gas station, etc) so you'd need to take in multiple cars per day and buy all the necessary parts to repair them. Plus, the clients could pay extra if you got the cars fixed sooner than expected.
Definitely agree that drag racing could use a lot of work, but I also think the effort it took to make that DLC could've been better spent on the mechanical side of things, and I hope the devs get back to that core value. That's my taste, though. Lots of people wanted the racing, so it's all good there, even if I don't care much for it. It's there for those that do. (I really liked the addition of the four cars and six engines in the package, though.) However, CMS isn't Forza or GT over here, nor is it a ridiculous gas station/Auto Zone simulator over there. It is what it is, without the extraneous bullsh*t. The Aston Martin vehicles/engines are a great example of where things can go, and a well-deserved nod to Meitzi's 'QoL' mod for where RDG could take things a lot further in-game, even if it's down the road a ways.
People will always point you to Wrench, if they haven't already. I'll do it, too. I've been promoting that game for over two years, because it's awesome. People have been hopping on that wagon lately. If that's what you all want with CMS, you'll be wanting for a long time, if not indefinitely. Two different games. Probably always will be, like it or not. I'd like to be wrong about that, but only to a certain degree. Each has its own lane, and Wrench is not at all polished. It's a bona fide achievement for a two-man team, but it has a very long way to go, objectively speaking. Having said that, if you want a hardcore mechanic sim, that's the one and only. Nothing I've seen compares, even in its current, unpolished state.
But this is CMS, not Wrench.
I wouldn't mind some new Story Orders for sure. Would give me an incentive to do a few jobs again, like you mentioned, even if it's just for a bit. Getting back to the mechanical side of things, as it should be.
And selling our cars at the Auction would be great. It's been requested at least 20 times more than the DLC has been remastered. I'll take 'em both. The more engines and parts to acquire, build with, and auction off, the merrier.
It needs many more story orders which I guaranty are some of the easiest bits of the game to code. Since a huge part of the game is fixing up cars and selling them, the go to auction should be mandatory and not just completely basic like the drag racing dlc was. Then the quality of the models needs to seriously be improved and the diversity of parts much improved. Like another person just eluded to. The parts for a Smith 1500 shouldn't be used on a F-350 model.
The reason why I said what I said earlier is that you don't need to fudge the numbers to validate your other points. I love these games, but they're far from perfect, and you already made some valid points, like a lot of other people have. We would all love more parts, model-specific parts, etc. You name it, it's probably been suggested at some point in the past. I also think RDG should really look into the QoL mod for inspiration. Maybe they already are. A lot of what Meitzi's mod does for the game has been requested over and over to be officially implemented.
One thing I partially disagree with you on is that only some of the models' quality needs to be improved. Some of the cars look really freaking great, and a lot look pretty decent. Some of them definitely need an ironing for sure.
Concerning DLC: Yeah, I'm buying them all. Despite the game's flaws (and the drag racing), I love messing around with the car editor, and then restoring that config in-game. Those are the two areas where I get most of my enjoyment, so I want all the parts/engines I can get to build what I want.
