Racing Stripes

Is it possible to paint racing stripes or are you stuck with just a solid colour.

You are stuck with whatever liveries are available for the car in the paint booth. For many it's just a solid color, but some cars have a few paint schemes (such as racing stripes) available. The only other option is to use the car editor.

...or you could use the car editor I imagine to create a new car model with custom liveries, but that happens outside the game and is more involved.

If you want racing stripes, you must make them your own with a photo editing software of your choosing.
