Repairing the frame using the welder should last more.
I would love a "realistic welder" setting were it can take 10 minutes or more to repair a heavily damaged frame. The fact that it takes more time to repair a brake disk than the entire frame of the car seems too unrealistic.

So instantly repairing a frame is too much for you but repairing a brake disk with a lathe isn't?

The opposite. Repairing a frame should take more time than repairing a brake disk.

I think you misunderstood what I wanted to say. From my point of view repairing a brake disk on a lathe is equally unrealistic as instant repair from welding. Most of break disks in real life get switched out when they get too thin because the brake pads grinded them down over time - the game wants to tell me making them even thinner repairs them?

What I meant to say is that there are dozens of unrealistic things in the game and I'm surprised this one seems to be bugging you the most.

Brake lathes get used when your brake discs get messed up from stones wedgerd between the pads and disc and generally uneven hardness of the metrials rubbing against each other. Often the discs them selves aren't even really used up when they get replaced. Then you can just refurbish them and use them again.

But I am definitely overshooting the original post. I don't think welding should take any longer. And I also think the brake lathe should function a little faster. Both of the mechanics interrupt the flow of the gameplay but the brake lathe is definitely worse than welding up the car frame.

It's not bugging me at all. It's just a thought that came to my mind. I thought the car turns from a rusty mess to a brand new frame too fast.
If you think it's too fast in this game then you should see how it works in car mechanic sim 18.

Standing in your garage and watching a animation for 10mins which you can not skip and can not do anything else in this time? No thanks.

You have two lifts. There's a lot to do while you repair a frame if you plan ahead. 10 minutes is too much, I admit, but it should last a couple of minutes at least.

How's it realistic to be welding a frame while working on another car at the same time?

There's zero reason to add tedium to the game; you can argue that it should be more interactive than it is, maybe (I haven't gotten that far), but just making it longer to make it longer isn't a good idea.

Well, it's more realistic than welding a frame in 5 seconds.

Under these circumstances painting a car should then take a few hours. Not only a few seconds. But guys I tell you something - it is a friggin game ;)

I know. That's why I said welding a frame should last some minutes instead of days.

If it were a case of actually doing something with the welder other than just pressing 'go', we could talk about it. Same goes for painting. There is no merit to dragging out a one-click-and-it's-done animation too long in this game, imho. That wouldn't really make it more realistic given how quickly everything else gets done.

So we you should make animation take like 20 sec? :)

Well, that would be even better. The same with painting and cleaning a car. There should be a minigame for doing this stuff. If you think about it, it takes more time and effort to fix a small clip than welding a frame.
