To use one of your examples as an example, there's a FMW Panther MK2 and there's a FMW Panther MK2 Performance. The regular version has the V8 DOHC AXK engine as default, while Performance has the V8 DOHC Supercharged as default. There might be some slight differences in body parts also, with the Performance version requiring some Body Tuning Shop items. While they have different 'default' parts, you can have one and rebuild it as the other though.
There are also a few cars where the engine type depends on which version you bought though! The FMW Roadster Sport for example can only have a V6 engine, while the regular FMW Roadster does not even have the option for a V6 engine. They only have I3 and I4 options... which you cannot put in the Sport version. I don't think this happens frequently, it's the only time I've personally built an engine and was surprised that it didn't fit in an alternate version of a car where it normally should fit.
However... I don't think there's a bonus for restoring a car to be as 'close to stock as possible', so there's nothing preventing you from doing engine swaps or going aftermarket on body parts... as long as the chassis will allow it. Not all versions allow for all engine swaps.
EDIT: Actually I found several more examples: The Bolt Atlanta F-Mill can *only* have an I6 OHV engine installed, while the regular Bolt Atlanta has four V8 options but no I6 option. The same goes for the Bolt Chapman F-Mill vs regular.
There's a list of cars here where you can compare regular vs alternate options, you'll see there's actually a decent amount of cars where the options do matter: https://car-mechanic-simulator-2021.fandom.com/wiki/Vehicles
My intention is pretty simple..... After doing a lot of Jobs and level through the game the final long time motivation is simply Own every single car in the best performance ( all tuning parts 3 star)
So i just think about if it is needed to own all "multi Version Cars" also multiple times.
If there is a different Motor i must simply decide for the one with the strongest Motor.
If there is just a difference of Tuning PArts ( i can do myself by buy them) then i will not farm it twice.
Thanks a lot !
Example:
I bought 3 different deloreans Painted, Carbon Fiber, and Gold. I put all the gold parts on all 3 cars and had all same engines with base parts non tuned for this test. Gold was valued at 207k Carbon Fiber was valued at 169K and the Painted valued at 154K. Names are by version name. all had gold parts remember so fully same car but not according to the "VIN". the neet thing i noticed though the Carbon fiber was the lightest.
Bender likes your attitude. I am trying to get 100% 3-star examples of all the different variants of some of the cars. Mostly the mod cars. Ferrari, McLaren, DeLorean and Skyline 2000. Those are my start.
We SO NEED a place to display our cars. Used Car lot, multi-level parking garage, Jay Leno's Garage - a field? Something! I need to see more than 3 of my cars at a time. Bender is insecure. LOL.
