Dash symbols in plates?

It seems that I cannot get a dash symbol into any plate for any car (for example, something like "AC-D609Y", and so on). Is there something I am missing, perhaps? I've noticed that the Sim tends to "center" whatever characters I "type" in, but still, I cannot get the dash symbol even if I can see it in "used" plates somehow. The issue here is that I cannot reproduce it. I can scroll from A to Z, then a simple space, then numbers from 0 to 9.
Any ideas?

If you are just trying to put a new plate on a car for a customer just buy a blank plate, it will automatically put the correct tag on it when it’s a customer car. Saves a lot of time putting it in manually and also money since customized tags are more expensive. If it’s for your personal car, unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible currently.

Oh, thank you for your advice! I did not know anything about customers' plates, ad as matter of fact! I have been doing lotsa "reconstruction" efforts, as I did not know. Also, yeah, the price is incredible! I am very happy to know that I can do a simple click and buy a blank plate. Will follow your kind suggestion, then. For the dash symbol, too bad. I will do without. Thanks again.
