Tailoring Skill - how to level
Shearston Estate , which is just WNW of the Northern Gate of Haywind. There is a loom machine. But you must first unlock it by doing their related quest. Which is actually not so bad. 1st part is to craft 3 copper round shields and I believe 3 copper Broadswords. Now that I told you , you can have them ready when you arrive. There are a few copper nodes just to east of the estate. Also a cart that you can loot repeatedly for a mining skill book. #2 you need to collect 5 or 10 alchemy agents, I totally forget what they are called. Red or fire something... in any case they are also nearby. Really close to the copper nodes or just to the north of the estate. You take them to a wise woman in a building on the estate. Then you get basically some firebomb potions ... not what they are called in game... after you start the battle for the estate... wait at estate and talk to James again... follow him to a wall of brambles, climb over , throw the firebombs at the targets, return to estate. And the Loom becomes unlocked.

This does not end your pain exactly. So unless you went around killing a bunch of sheep for wool. And stored them in you bank, it might take you some time to get up to lvl 10 tailoring, which is the lvl you need to use the Sheers... located on a table near the loom. There is also 2 wool on the table as well. These respawn approx every 3 or 4 minutes. The lady inside will also sell you wool for Estate coins / bits ... But these are also limited but do recover over time. You can't kill the sheep near the estate. Only sheers will work on these sheep. But once you can use the sheers , it becomes relatively easy. Also very lucrative.

On a crate near the table there is a hammer, you will also need. So there is a hopper , where you just click on and if you have wool in you inventory , you will keep feeding the hopper until you run out or the hopper has 40 wool. From right to left , hopper, machine, wheel, dye, collector , then down, packing box. Now I suggest you have Horsy before you do this... here comes the lucrative part. The sheers and hammer respawn as well as the wool. The sheers are worth 90 gp , the hammer I don't remember. But every time they respawn, you give them to horsy. The wool you put into the hopper. Occasionally the machine will break down, So always keep 1 hammer and 1 sheer on you. equip hammer, click the machine to repair, then turn the wheel to restart the loom. Finished clothes will come down belt into the collector. Click collector to auto pick up clothes and place in box. Now it says something about dye and making the right color of clothing... ignore it. it doesn't matter. you only earn 1 estate coin per clothing placed in box.

I went from like 3 tailoring to 22 tailoring in about 3 hours... the first 7 lvls took a long time... because I hadn't killed many sheep. But here's the thing.... I ended up with like 70 sheers and hammers in my bank... which now has me at at over 10,000 gp. And once you hit lvl 10 tailoring you can start sheering sheep. Equip the sheers click the sheep until they don't give wool. There is a difference in sheep models , so you know when they have no wool to give. And you can sheer sheep faster than the machine makes clothes , so you will also end up with a lot of wool in the bank as well. But you have to send it when you can. The machine will break down randomly... or when it runs out of wool. Now those estate coins can be used for some decent rewards from the lady merchant inside the building.

Hope that helps... if I forgot something , sorry... but once you do it a few times it becomes machine like... and you forget much of what you are doing. I watched 2 movies while doing this, and most of the time was spent watching not playing.

To also put it in here for people that find this quicker than the other comment section

All excellent advice, if you hadn't mentioned this I would have done so myself. Another thing to mention after you have gotten to 10 and can shear the sheep, you can sell the wool to the token shop for 1 token per wool, this is far quicker than playing the minigame for tokens.

Once you've gotten the Bell and maybe a wool bag or 2, whilst you're playing the minigame for the xp use Horsy to send wool back to the bank when you don't need to load the hopper with wool. This way you can get a tonne of wool in your bank, earn xp from the minigame, and then once you've gotten yourself to a tailoring level you can stomach go back to Haywind and turn all that wool into Apprentice Mage Robes (5 wool each), they sell for around 109 each to the Mage Curiosity shop just to the north of Haywind Bank. Again this will earn you coin, and Tailoring XP.
