No axe in the prologue area?

I've looked everywhere for an axe to do Groundskeeper Darron's task and there doesn't seem to be one.

If I remember correctly, if you go out and to the left of the castle, you see a few sheep, behind their building is an area to get it. It is near some trees that you can farm.

yeah have to go a bit past the sheep (opposite way from the fishing area) to find the lumber axe sitting on a stump

its a bit behind the separate building out front.
