Is crafting oak stuff actually less efficient vs willow to 40?

I'm thinking that it's actually faster and less of a headache to just farm glowing willows and get glowing orbs and make willow wands as glowing orbs are already a pain in the ass to get, and then if you wanna craft oak stuff you basically NEED to find 5 times the amount of glowing orbs, or farm brains from the starting area to create living wood... Or kill the like, 10 awakened evergreens that might be spawned in misty and hopefully get 1-4 living woods every like 5-10 minutes from sitting there camping the area that spawns slowly... Just like the zombies in the starting area... 15 of em, spawns every however many minutes, and even if ya run around the area killing 'em all you get enough brains to make 3 arcane powders, and then you need 5 of those to make a glowing orb, and 5 glowing orbs to make living wood... Right? Something along those lines. Crazy tedious requirements. I'm thinking just making a bunch of 200-300 exp willow wands is much simpler to get.

Anyone disagree/think there's a better way that I'm overlooking? I'm thinking to just get my crafting high enough that I can move on to something above oak that isn't so sparse/tedious an ingredient to farm.

You are overlooking the salvaging. You can buy a scavengers toolkit from the vendors in the scavenging yard so you can salvage anywhere for like 5k of any type of salvaged material. If you were to salvage for example an oak crossbow or oak shield, you should get back around 150-250 wood chips. You can buy 1x living wood for 200 chips. You wont be making any gold profit, but at least all you need is oak wood to skill up this way.

And crafting materials are quite easy to get from stashes. You farm mobs in a location, gather 10-15 keys and you won't have enough room in your inventory to carry it all.
golemstones, living wood, glowing orbs, arcane thread, etc.

Oh, yeah, wasn't aware of the salvaging. That sounds like a good deal for sure.
I have yet to actually find stashes as well, I have like 50 mistywood keys and even more of the other keys. Time to start looking. lol.
