Level 23 with 25 smithing, still stuck in copper gear. (Vent)
I have the ability to make Iron equipment, almost iron armor. But you need drops from a Nature Golem to make it. Cool, an enemy that's lv28, hits like a truck, takes so little damage even from magic, which is it's weakness and still only has a 20% chance to drop the item needed.
Like, it makes sense for this kind of thing on an MMO, and I know you were basing the game on an MMO, but it's not an MMO. Some things are easy, some things are hard, this is just frustrating for the sake of being frustrating.
I'm sure there's gear I can get from quests or other drops in the world, probably, but with the game not being popular, there isn't exactly a lot of info on it and sure, I'm not exactly dying in my copper gear (except to the golem) but I've been stuck in the same gear for 15ish hours. I'm sick of looking at it.
Obviously I'm still gonna play the game because everything else (mostly) has been great. Just wanted to vent some minor annoyances.

As long as you are progressing through the world and main quest there should be plenty of enemies that drop equipment sufficient to progress. If you need golemstone you can exchange for it at the salvage yard. The loot drop grind seems to only get worse so you need to do your best to mitigate it. Find the good equipment drops, use food and pots, and make sure to get as many combat abilities as you can find. Doesn't hurt to grind up combat levels for the level bonuses too.

Understandable really, after this I did start continuing the main quest and almost immediately got new armor to drop off some pirates. It wasn't as good, but was well rounded defenses instead of just melee. Still, it seems like if making your armor is going to be an option, it shouldn't already be such a pain to gather the mats by literally the second armor tier. Like save that for the 50+ armors. But again, it's whateves. It just makes it feel like the smithing skill is a bit useless tbh.

I do can recommend going the salvage route. Make copper stuff, salvage it and trade that salvage in for golemstone. Make Iron stuff.

I was told to save your copper ores and turn them in 10:1 for xp books from the starting guy i completely forgot about near Ratcliff i believe he was. Also don't melee the golems use magic they're weakness, sorry if it feels like back seating but magic is they're weakness.

yeah i'm hearing its a really big grind like 8 hours for 1 piece or something someone mentioned on discord, but not as bad as real OSRS i think ?

when you get to iron, only realistic way to level is just bars, which is lame i know. Scrap yard can get you some secondaries for iron level.

Can always farm the 25-50k+ xp books in mountains as well if you don't want to do it the normal way

That method seems lame, VERY lame. Why have them when you could just have 1-2 basic gears not cost a secondary. Sure the production number will increase every tier but at least it is smooth rather than alternative farming a different way to level something that should be kept in skill.

Theres a golem you can farm without being hit once. In the mines of the mining village, climb on the rocks and shoot him with wand or bow, he cant hit you.

I did not understand this Engrish, what is lame exactly?

See I was trying to fight that thing so long using the mine cart to knock it out for a few seconds. NEVER occurred to me to just climb up those rocks. I think I just assumed he'd reset if I did that. THANK YOU!

It's definitely not as bad as runecape, but runescape is an MMO so it's expected to be bad. I know grinds can be pretty bad for single player games too but USUALLY that's for like some super cool rare item, not upgrading to the second tier of melee armor.

Umm is it only me who just goes around killing everything on its way that can just drop better gear and use it instead of actually crafting it? I draged up crafting lvls only to 25 to access thornhill academy

To each their own, but this is intended as a Runescape like, which half the point of the game is grinding up those levels so if I'm doing exactly that, it probably shouldn't be such a pain to craft only the second tier of melee armor. Doesn't matter now of course, as I did just end up buying the iron armor in Thornhill.
