Does strange gem have any use?

Other than selling it for few coins which isn't really worth it.(assuming it has other uses)

I imagine if you find the right person or item it will, but I have yet to find one. I thought it woulda been the guy that makes the focus crystal, but there wasn’t a dialogue option about it. The guy you mine the rocks with can be asked about it and he mentions something about finding someone who knows more about such things, but it wasn’t at all specific, and may not yet have an actual use, still being in early access. Hopefully it does have a use that I merely have not yet come across, as I have no intent to get rid of it.
Pretty typical of me and rare/unique items in games, even if they don’t currently have a use, I keep them just in case (such as raisins back when I played Destiny. Didn’t have a use for AGES, then they finally did something with them, lol)

There is a guy that you find and he offers you 500 gold or 1000(if u refuse 500) but that's it.
I was hoping for something bigger since this had a cutscene and all.
I don't want to sell it for mere 1000 gold you can get by killing some chickens.

You can go in mistywood village and talk with the druid or mage that are arguing. Afterwards show the gem. Then if you have oak you can craft a staff with it

I don't have this option, only the 2 options that i have are mission related

well I do not know. did you sided with the mage or the druid?? I first sold the gem to the shop in Haywind then bought it back when I stop the arguing between the two and talked to the mage after I sided with her. then I saw a dialog choice with the gem besided it. I do not know what else I can say sorry. :/ I was lvl like between 22-30 in sorcery with the begining traits of sorcery.

sorry for the double post but I don't really know how steam community works. But I think I figured it out. if you sided with the druid you will get the Mistywood amulet and if you sided with the mage you will be able to get the wand with 5oaks and the gem.

thanks for the info. is the staff better than ones you can craft?

The reward is a wand that does less damage than the level 12 crafted staff. However it does have an aoe spell attached to it you can use 2x before it needs to recharge. It doesnt do enough damage for me to justify not using my crafted staff

The best mage weapon in the game period is the oak staff crafted by you from levels ~20-35. You will want to craft an exceptional one. It has spell accuracy of ~104 and +6 spell damage. This staff is all I have used up to level 35 as the Ember, Wind and Water staff's remove mana cost for each of those spells but the damage loss is 50% or so - the best being the water one and I wont use it because it halfs my water spell damage from 60 to about 30. Not worth it. The level 40 staff drop from the priest has +8 damage and +8 healing but no spell accuracy - again not worth it. I have also collected all the boss spells - the best spell by far is Elemental Lightning - it has no range limit and does around ~50-55 damage per cast at 38 sorcery - with +17 spell damage modifier on my gear using that Exceptional Oak staff. That same boss that drops it drops a +11 spell damage bracer which I use with the oak staff.

Where do you get the Staff of Spiteful Seas though? Is it a drop from the Mistywood Boss that I still can't defeat at Level 38 Sorcery? Using the Staff of Furious Winds at the moment...
