Starving to death
So you're telling me in less than a 24hr period I can eat 3 odd fruit, a bag of chips, a cat, and an elder thing monster and still starve to death? The hunger requirements seem absurd. Most of my games I just starve to death in a day or two because I can't find enough to eat because of sheer luck. I implore the devs to tune this a bit as the food requirements are just nuts right now.

Does eating elder flesh even help with hunger? I ate a cat and then starved to death like 5 seconds later.

Desription of odd fruit is that no matter how many you eat you will still feel hungry. You need to eat expired dog food, food ration, kill a dog and cook the meat, kill a Canibal and cook the meat etc. Never found a bag of chips so not sure what it does.

Like Lone Wolf said, Odd Fruit can only bring your hunger levels out of starvation and into hungry, as well as bring your thirst levels up to thirsty. Bag of chips can only bring it to "normal" levels but won't bring it to satiated.

And no Elder Flesh doesn't help with hunger, it's just a stat boost at the sacrifice of sanity.

Yep. You have to eat the worst of things and absolutely ration it.

Don't eat food until you're starving; or, at least eat all the food you can't carry. ( THOUGH, food is a much better replacement for empty cans/firewood/pipes/boards/other trash)

Makes sense and I've gotten better at managing food. I had just assumed eating a corpse would fill your stomach to some degree but I guess it doesn't. Seems a bit silly though that I can eat 9 massive segments of a Centipede and still starve to death..

Well it seems like you're prioritizing killing enemies over looting/exploration and making sure you are well equipped when you do need to fight.

I wouldn't say the food req. is absurd at all, especially given that for the most part most runs aren't meant to last that long, though I've had runs that went on for multiple days (which incidentally I had either spent most of the time avoiding enemies or I had gotten a great start ex: getting good loot from a lucky cannibal kill/room and from there being able to stack my stats thru elder flesh, blank papers, etc while having the loot needed to survive.)

I agree. If you are not pretty lucky and come across something remotely edible within the first 10 minutes, expect to starve to death... well, unless you somehow get dehydrated first and die of thirst instead.
