On your first few runs/hours, it'll be longer because you're gonna be analyzing all the skills and generally just take longer to plan everything out. Later on, once you figure it all out, I think it'll come down to an hour/1/2 hours for a casual run. People who are really good can get it below an hour/run, but I'm not that good yet so my run is still on the average to longer side, but I also don't rush in these games.
Some characters are more complex and need setup which might prolong the run duration, especially when you just learn about how to use them.
As for the save system, of course I can use that, but I noticed that when continuing a game like this, I have a hard time remembering what I was doing, which synergies I was building around, etc. Maybe it's just because I'm getting old, but I like doing things in one sitting. To think that not that long ago, I was into 60 hours games.
Thanks again for the answers!
