My observation and advise from other players :
- 1 of the card in your hand will have a special icon with "Dead" (in chinese)
- Reaper will do an attack that mark the owner of this card (in your hand) and create "Dead" status. If this marking attack hit a hero already with this "Dead" status effect, then it will deal heavy wide party damage
- This means, you should evenly let each party member take this special marking attack from reaper every turn. If the card owner of "Dead" status is currently clean, then keep this card in the hand.
- If the owner of the card is marked, then you use the card to let the "Dead" status on card jump to another card in hand
Im going to guess what happened was that all 4 party members had the mark, the boss procced his aoe on using reapers mark twice on one charecter, and then your party members got sent to deaths door from the aoe. Since the mark carries a Dot, on the next turn all deaths door members died immediately.
I'm not sure of this, but I think reaper will target random target if you don't have any card.
And yeah you killed by the mark's dot damage.
P.S. If you got Lian in your team she may block the mark attack for others, this will trigger the AOE if you're not careful, But can use it to save your team if she don't have the mark debuff.
