I got into the book case room and then the bathroom and ran out of keys. I am not sure what to do now.

This may seem like a stupid question, but how do you use the key in the first room? I've taken the pills that help me to see better and found the key, but it's not usable. I'm standing right by the door, and even zoomed in on the door using the F key. I then opened up the inventory, highlighted the key, but no option to use it is there. I've tried using the left mouse button, the E key, and the Enter key, but nothing works. There has to be something that I'm doing wrong....

Hi Can you please add an age rating to this game in Brazil, otherwise the game's Steam page will be invisible for Brazilian customers. This was a recent Valve's change, and the devs were not warned. I am at the literal very beginning of the game. I've managed to acquire two keys but they don't unlock any of the available doors. I've tried them all multiple times. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.
