Wait, do I own this already?
I see that KIF already has a pricetag, but I had and played this when it was free, and it says it's in my library.
I kind of feel bad if I can't even buy some kind of "supporter DLC" at some point to make up for it :(

I'm a little confused. Does having the previous DLCs unlock different parts in the demo or does the demo now include all the previous DLC? I can see would need to buy the full version to unlock some endings (assuming that's what the key symbol means). But most don't have that.

Heyo, sorry for the confusion. We made an oops on what builds went where. There's now a free version and a paid version. The free version has all the content of the original, but is updated with the VO and graphical improvements of Complete. It can also play the original DLC if you ever bought that.

BUUUUUUTTT the PAID version has like over double the content, even considering DLCs, the custom story editor, unlockables, and some other cool stuff. :) Thanks for wanting to support me! This is FINALLY a way to really be able to do that with Kyle!

Can you explain what the key symbols mean to some of the endings?

Yeah! :) An ending with a key on it means you unlock something if you complete that ending.

You also unlock something for every category of ending you complete.

Only other thing I have noticed. It doesn't seem clear in the demo which endings are in the demo and which are "locked" to the paid version. There's also 4 slots to show the expansions in the unlocks section. Should having the previous DLC show up as existing in there? I do have the ability to become Santa or a hotdog salesman. It's just little things that aren't super clear.

Probably it will be deserved to make full game free or at least make discount for early supporters (= for those, who bought DLC's for free base game).
And the clear decision is stay free game as free with paid DLC's and make Full paid version as separate game.

So, this is a great question. It IS a little confusing, because I wanted to make sure that the people that played the original didn't get screwed over. So here's how it works.

Free Edition (demo): contains all content from the original Kyle, with the updates. ALSO, if you bought Kyle is Santa or Kyle is Hotdog, that content will ALSO be playable in this edition.

Paid edition: contains ALL content, which is about double the size of original, Kyle is Santa, and Kyle is Hotdog put together ('cause I added a ton more). Also has the story creator, unlocks, and of course the new content.
I have a similar issue. I installed the game in june when it was still free. When I start the game now, it says in the main menu that its the "complete demo" and if I click on the custom stories, it states hat these are only available in the full version of the game.

But I can't buy the game because steam tells me I already own it. I reinstalled the game but no change :( can you help me?

Yeah, I have the same question, though with KIF in the cart it doesn't say in that orange text and cross that I own it already, however when I hit purchase a popup warning comes that I have it and won't get an extra copy :s
Should I ignore that and go ahead? Or is there still something to iron out on the Steam end of things?

Hmmm, maybe removing it from my account would work?
The option that shows up when you right-click the library entry, which shows up for those free games you have, like all the prologues indies create to supplant demos
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

It's just a weird Steam thing - it doesn't want to credit you the "free" version twice, so it's like "BUT WAIT YOU ALREADY OWN THE FREE VERSION AWFAWFAWFAW." But you'll get the complete edition when you buy it.
