Terminology and some misc questions
- What is a 'stack' of x damage type? 10? 5? 1?
- unit repaired really means unit rebuilt? e.g. do i need to check every time on squad screen to see if units are damaged after a run? seems to me that they are either 100% or i need to pay to rebuild a trashed unit
- So which prolonged dmg type is best? Heat it seems to me but is corrosion any good in the longer run? Installed a gun on my engineer that deals corrosion and it seems to be a real killer when enemies stick around for longer.
- Do enemies single out from the file and attack damaged units? it seems to me it is a working strategy to switch out heavily damaged units behind others that are in better shape.

- A 'Stack' is how many times a debuff has been applied, for example, when a weapon says that it applies "2 plasma residue" or "8 corrosion", that's how many stacks it applies. What happens when there's several stacks depends on the debuff, in the case of corrosion the enemy takes damage equal to the number of stacks (minus enemy armor), whie for interference multiple stacks do nothing except extend how long the debuff lasts (1 stack per turn). I hope that's what you meant by stack.

TL;DR: A stack is 1.

- Yeah, damage to units doesn't persist between missions, they're either alive and at 100% health or dead and need to be rebuilt.

- That one i don't really know, both corrosion and heat are very good, but internal damage is also great, especially against enemies with a lot of health, since it deals 25% HP, regardless of armor.

- It does seem like that, enemies also prefer to focus fire when they can (or maybe they're not focusing fire, but simply shooting at the same unit because it's now damaged).

Thank you. i was looking for the 1 stack = 1 unit. e.g. the first corrosion gun i got had 25 corrosion damage so it was unclear to me if this was now 2 stacks of corrosion and when i fire next time i get another 25 so 5 stacks but apparently thats not the case.

I played some more today and it does seem enemies at least some time hunt for the damaged units. lost two units now in missions in a row.

there is no one best type of damage because some enemy units are better at dealing with some damage types then others. you have raw damage, status damage, and heat damage and you want atlest two types on your team so you don't get hard countered.

its usually better to focus on what a unit is good at damage type wise rather then trying to get them to do something g they aren't as good at. This is because you want to max out the benefits you get from the upgrade they have like how mechanic can do 35% internal damage with the tier 3 upgrade.
viper-corrosive (status)
mechanic-internal damage (status)
Vulcan-heat
paladin- raw damage

Good point with having at least 2 types. Have not yet been hard countered but i assume that will come at some point.
