The cars are completely unbalanced in multiplayer
You can literally nail every turn and drive a perfect race but someone in a better car will still destroy you by 10-30 seconds. That doesn't make any sense for a multiplayer game.

Proof?

Literally no one has mastered the game yet, so idk how you're running a "perfect" race 😂😂😂

If you look at the time trial leaderboards you'll see that the supreno is completely dominating every track, especially tracks that have a lot of straight aways because it has a maxed out top speed. I've tested this with the Roton 7D which has a very low top speed compared to the other class A cars. On the Bay Bridge track there are 3 long straight aways right before the finish. I was able to keep the lead throughout the entire race until those straight aways where I would watch the supreno gain a ridiculous amount of speed and end up beating me (keep in mind the supreno was drifting and taking horrible lines and yet was able to gain on me simply because it has over 1/3 higher top speed). So I would agree with OP that the cars in this game are unbalanced, at least the Class A cars. They either need to figure out how to balance these cars or separate the leaderboards by car.

This is a short clip of someone drifting at over 160 mph. The roton 7D top speed while going perfectly straight is 150 mph : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2226449000

Yep, there's two really overpowered cars in the game I've found so far, one is the Supreno as mentioned above, the other is the Raptor which, while it doesn't have as high top end and generally slower cornering as the Supreno, can get out of slow corners way faster than any other car bc of its ridiculous acceleration and the same sharp turn in you can get out of the Supreno when holding the Right Stick long enough.

Huh, I'd already made the assumption leaderboards would be by car. Seems strange they wouldn't be, given all the fuss they make about each one having a unique character. One person's favourite might not be another's, we shouldn't be forced into driving something we don't enjoy.

While I am in general agreement I will add some caveats:

I may not totally agree with the stats of the Supreno, considering what it is clearly based on, but I can see where the dev team is coming from; fastest in drifts if you can keep a reasonably shallow drift going, and initiate it without ramming head first into the wall.

The point is with those faster cars is that they are complete and utter bi*ches to drive, for the most part. (One exception I feel is the Velox Jet, which is a Supra, I guess? That is easier to handle) You really need to practice at them to feel them out and see how they act on the courses.

I did ask something similar in a thread the other day, I put Adas Gecko (my first car of choice) against the Roton 7D. I got whooped. But, on asking, the devs did say that some of the slower cars can keep up, and maybe even win, if their cornering is perfect.

So I think it will be a case of that in the TT leaderboards. People are probably using the Supremo as it is the Eight-Six of this game (practically literally), but get that novelty out of the way people will start using other cars, and become proficient with them, and start putting down better times.

Another thing to remember is that the leaderboards are class based, so my Gecko v Roton situation simply won't happen.

In a title like this top speed is not everything, its smoothness, and I am sure that there are cars far smoother than the Supremo.

If you're getting a 10-30 second gap, in the same car class, I think you're not running a perfect race (what is a perfect race btw, I've never seen one)

If the other guy has run that car for 10 hours and you've run yours for a race or two and aren't familiar with mechanics, you're going to get skunked. Otherwise, in class, the disparity is not going to be that big. Also there is no best car, there are cars better suited to each track, in each class.

Ohh but the disparity can be that big, try driving the Raptor then compare with the 7D

That's just because I, Keisuke, have not mastered the 7D yet.

You just wait, I'll be setting leaderboard times in that thing, or I'll have to change my name.

I don't think the cars are supposed to be balanced. Not even Mario Kart has balanced cars.
If you can actually master the Supreno, you probably deserve to win.

This is pretty much a given considering the game hardlocked the cars into different archetypes and obvious differences in stats.
The car that has the fastest top speed and acceleration and decent handling will win every single time.
Contrary to the title, the only way to win and score the fastest laps is by drifting the least, drifting cost speed and time so the least you have to drift = early corner exit = achieve top speed quickest, you win.
