This is a short clip of someone drifting at over 160 mph. The roton 7D top speed while going perfectly straight is 150 mph : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2226449000
I may not totally agree with the stats of the Supreno, considering what it is clearly based on, but I can see where the dev team is coming from; fastest in drifts if you can keep a reasonably shallow drift going, and initiate it without ramming head first into the wall.
The point is with those faster cars is that they are complete and utter bi*ches to drive, for the most part. (One exception I feel is the Velox Jet, which is a Supra, I guess? That is easier to handle) You really need to practice at them to feel them out and see how they act on the courses.
I did ask something similar in a thread the other day, I put Adas Gecko (my first car of choice) against the Roton 7D. I got whooped. But, on asking, the devs did say that some of the slower cars can keep up, and maybe even win, if their cornering is perfect.
So I think it will be a case of that in the TT leaderboards. People are probably using the Supremo as it is the Eight-Six of this game (practically literally), but get that novelty out of the way people will start using other cars, and become proficient with them, and start putting down better times.
Another thing to remember is that the leaderboards are class based, so my Gecko v Roton situation simply won't happen.
In a title like this top speed is not everything, its smoothness, and I am sure that there are cars far smoother than the Supremo.
If the other guy has run that car for 10 hours and you've run yours for a race or two and aren't familiar with mechanics, you're going to get skunked. Otherwise, in class, the disparity is not going to be that big. Also there is no best car, there are cars better suited to each track, in each class.
That's just because I, Keisuke, have not mastered the 7D yet.
You just wait, I'll be setting leaderboard times in that thing, or I'll have to change my name.
If you can actually master the Supreno, you probably deserve to win.
The car that has the fastest top speed and acceleration and decent handling will win every single time.
Contrary to the title, the only way to win and score the fastest laps is by drifting the least, drifting cost speed and time so the least you have to drift = early corner exit = achieve top speed quickest, you win.
