That's right.
And you got it right about moving the armies before the party, but I don't know about any convenient ways to see just when the movement points will refresh. I think you could just track the time until the next day and make sure to spend all your movement points before that.
That being said, there is no reason to over-optimize - the game gives you a lot of crusade resources, so you'd have to completely ignore the crusades to fall behind the curve.
Good to hear the time crunch isn't excruciating. However, I'm wondering how to account for the time passage when I'm adventuring in a map. I suppose I just play the party until they are exhausted then purposely leave the location so I can access the army. Because I can see wanting to finish a location and even resting onsite which means the armies are going to lose time to move.
There are not that many dungeons that take multiple days to complete, and by the time you find such a dungeon, chances are you have already cleared the map of all the demon armies. At least that's how it was for me.
The only time where you need it is for the midnight isles in chapter 3 and 5. Depending on your team you might want to take several rests, and time will advance so some forts might get attacked.
So you might want to leave the isles from time to time to check on the map.
