Archmage armor potions and scrolls no longer work?

Archmage armor "when ever you cast mage armor on your self.."
I used to be able to cast mage armor from potions and scrolls and benefit from Archmage armor. But that no longer works.
Drinking potion or casting scroll on self doesnt activate archmage version?
I am replaying as warewolf. Which cant cast spells.

Revert to human form, cast a scroll on self or drink a potion (FROM BELT) , only +4 base mage armor applies. Nothing else.
I already have Mythic Archmage armor feat.

I also tested on regaular casters , none of them are getting archmage armor from items.
