Looking for fighter heavy armour spiked heavy shield build suggestions
Hello all.
I am currently putting together a mercenary group to accompany my Hex witch necro character. So far I have made a rowdy rogue sniper and 2H heavy armour fighter.
I am now wanting to add a heavy armour spiked shield fighter.
I looked at the Tower Shield fighter class but this would leave me tied in to using tower shield as the class progression seems geared towards this particular shield type.
Could I please get some alternative build advice that would suit my needs?
Cheers

A few classes can do it, it is feat heavy but really you are just making a two weapon fighter as your shield counts as an off hand when bashing.

Warpriest Sheildbearer is a good thematic class for that build. Is not full bab but gets spell casting for buf support.

Mutation Warrior is always good, full bab and their bonus feats really help get twf, shield and weapon feats.

I've done these a few times and the best option is a non-archetype Fighter. It is a very feat heavy build. 4 feats for Dual wielding, atleast 2 feats for Shield(probably 4), atleast 2 for weapon(again, probably 4) and then any standard stuff you want like Power Attack, Improved Critical, etc.

Shield Bash makes the shield behave like an off-hand weapon when picked so you need 2-weapon fighting feats. You can use a regular shield(any) but spiked shields have higher base damage. Fighter's Finesse(edit: it's actually not but another feat from the same tab I can't remember the name of) is needed if you don't want a penalty using Heavy Shields.

Start with 19 Str, 15 Dex. Dump the rest into Wis or Con. Level-up points go into Str. You'll need a Dex belt(+2 and +4 respectively) to pick Improved and Greater 2-weapon fighting. You can gain Dex via buffs but they don't let you pick feats with Dex requirements unlike Belts do. A Belt of Physical Perfection would be optimal.

For heavy armor you are pretty much set for having to use base fighter as the class, since you will need armor training to get the most out of it, and a bunch of feats for twf + shield. Personally I would go with a slayer deliverer and skip the heavy armor, in exchange for a much higher damage output.
