And I personally find the monk a very easy to understand class.
-Have high Dex and Wis (Dex for fighting, Wis for Ki-Powers, both for AC),
-fight barehanded (your weaponstrength of unarmed combat rises through the levels, Attack
rolls use Dex when you have Finesse),
-use all crane skills, to improve your defensive pose
-and your style strikes bring much into the table (you can try to trip your opponent, improve
your damage, ignore the enemies Damage reduction or increase your AC for the
retalliation. And these are applied through a full attack).
Other Classes, which have high DPS and Perception would be Inquisitor, Slayer or Ranger.
I hope this post gives you an idea for your build.
