Building a smilodon for a sacred huntsman
I want to make sure I understand a couple things right.

Smilodons don't need multiattack (for some reason I don't completely understand) right?

And because this is an animal companion for a sacred huntsman, the smilodon doesn't have to take teamwork feats, right? (I've never been clear on if animal companions of sacred huntsman only share teamworks feats with the huntsman. That is if the sacred huntsman has outflank, and a companion fighter has outflank, and the animal has outflank through the huntsman, the fighter and the animal's outflank work together, right? It's not just the animal and huntsman. No idea if I made sense.)

Any other advice?

Outflank is team feat. It works for anyone.
as for specifics smilodons, sorry but i have no clue. Only pets i ever built and wanted were Trip pets. They are all just glorified meat bags anyway

Here is some build for S.H on neoseeker. You can guide your self with it.

neoseeker.com/pathfinder-wrath-of-the-righteous/builds/Sacred_Huntmaster_Lann

It also uses Bully (Trip) for pet

At 3rd level, all of the inquisitor's allies are treated as if they possessed the same teamwork feats as the inquisitor for the purpose of determining whether the inquisitor receives a bonus from her teamwork feats. Her allies do not receive any bonuses from these feats unless they actually possess the feats themselves. The allies' positioning and actions must still meet the prerequisites listed in the teamwork feat for the inquisitor to receive the listed bonus.

Meaning, you do not need outflank on pet. Only on S.H
Allies do not receive bonuses from S.H feats unless they have them.

It is the same teamwork feat so it works with everyone that has the feat. Your companion just gains it via its master.

Make them a Bully. Pick feats that enhance that.
