as for specifics smilodons, sorry but i have no clue. Only pets i ever built and wanted were Trip pets. They are all just glorified meat bags anyway
Here is some build for S.H on neoseeker. You can guide your self with it.
neoseeker.com/pathfinder-wrath-of-the-righteous/builds/Sacred_Huntmaster_Lann
It also uses Bully (Trip) for pet
At 3rd level, all of the inquisitor's allies are treated as if they possessed the same teamwork feats as the inquisitor for the purpose of determining whether the inquisitor receives a bonus from her teamwork feats. Her allies do not receive any bonuses from these feats unless they actually possess the feats themselves. The allies' positioning and actions must still meet the prerequisites listed in the teamwork feat for the inquisitor to receive the listed bonus.
Meaning, you do not need outflank on pet. Only on S.H
Allies do not receive bonuses from S.H feats unless they have them.
Make them a Bully. Pick feats that enhance that.
