What are the most fun builds / mercs you've played with in WOTR or Kingmaker?
I usually have 4-5 mercs with me, I like trying out new classes even if the point buy isnt what I wish it was.

Remaking Tristan from KM is fun

brown fur / skald is really really good. Dont sleep on skald, i never wanted to play a bard in any game(still never have unless it was taking linzi to my barony), this makes a bard type class way more engaging and fun. You can build it however you want also. Reach weapons and strength, bow, throwing axes, whatever you can think of. Its not as strong as a fighter, but all of your fighter classes, tanks, pets, backline melee, and even casters will benefit from them being there. Brown fur is just also OP.

Instinctual barb is a lot of fun. Being able to benefit from strength and stay in the frontlines is really all I want out of a barb. But it does amazing damage and even as aeon it was destroying. (on normal difficulty) I almost solo'd the plagued one. I imagine gold dragon / angel / legend / demon it would be even more insane, I just wanted to be a devil and that was the path I chose in the meantime.

Basher ranger - Take a shield and scimitar and beat the fangs out of demons. With ranger you can take any feat without needing to qualify for it. No need to keep 19 dex for the final level of Two weapon fighting, just get it anyway and bump that strength up. Slayer can also do this, with sneak attack die. But ranger gets a pet and pets are so useful.

Probably will incorporate shadow shaman and one of the magi in my next run, what are you guys running / have run / want to run?

I enjoyed my halfling divine hound hunter mercenary from my Azata playthrough so much that I made her my main character for my Trickster run.

primalist was a cool merc for the free DD levels, reduced point buy didnt hurt as much with that and a few items.

I always hire a Sylvan Sorcerer and Nature Cleric. That gives you 2 tanks and just about every good buff, cure, and heal for 2 party slots.

Winter Witch and Madness Crusader are my hireling mvps
6 druids.
Nothing screws over the balance like having 12 animals with 6 of the animals having access to healing magic, crowd control magic and summons.
We where never the once's outnumbered.

STR Rowdy 1/Vivisectionnist X with Enlarge/Legendary Proportions, a reach weapon and (Improved) Vital Strike + Cleaving Finish.

Improved Cleaving Finish seems a waste of 2 feats since most of the time you'll only kill 2 mobs even if there are 3+ in range. The game seems to be bugged in that respect.

This merc does a ton of damage, especially in the early game but also in the laste game.
Also has some useful utility spells.
