What's the point of Throwing Axes?
I've been thinking about making a character who uses throwing axes, but they seem absolutely terrible compared to the other ranged weapon choices. They have low range, low damage, and bad crits (20 at x2). The only benefit seems to be that you can dual wield them and add your strength damage, and they work with Barbarian rage, but since they're not light weapons you will have a low accuracy. Am I missing something?

They tend to use it on Wendy because splitting bows between 2-3 characters is a chore when you can convert them to different weapon types.

Dual-Wielding throwing axes will net between 1-2 more attacks per round than bows, there are 2 really good throwing axes you can get almost immediately in act 3.

This topic somewhat reminds me of this recent thread:

With fighter you can take weapon training in axes and throwing weapons, then use the dueling gloves, it all stacks. Then you have the two weapon fighting with rapid shot plus full bab class for 10 attacks per round.

If they are light weapons, the in-game description needs to be updated, because they don't have that descriptor. As far as I can tell, they are standard weapons.

They work with strength in the descriptor.

Hmm, that's where I was looking when trying to put together a throwing ax build, but my game has also been buggy as hell, so maybe it's not displaying properly. Thanks for the pic.

They are listed as Light weapons. In the tooltip, under the weapon name it lists the weapon type and to the right of that, whether it is a Light, One-Handed or Two-Handed weapon.
