Bloodrager / Dragon Disciple build assistance.
Good Evening,

I'm reaching out to the community to see if anyone who knows more about min-maxxing classes could assist me.

I want to make a Bloodrager / Dragon Disciple build. Mostly Themed completely around Gold Dragon. (I picked the Azlanta Mythic path, plan on going golden dragon once it's available)

While I know that the weapon of choice doesn't matter too much in dragon form, outside of dragon form, I'm doing the typical bloodrager - 2h style of combat.

I'm stuck decided on a weapon, though due to recently finding a very sweet +5 Keen Scythe, I'm wondering if going scythe for human form might not be a bad idea, but I am open to other ideas. (Farmer Background giving my proficiency without needing to burn feats on exotic weapon proff)

Has anyone tried to do a build like this before? I know it's not going to be the absolute most min-maxed broken build, but I'd like it to be relatively solid and well put together so I don't struggle to much. (I also want to lean very heavily into increasing strength, and grabbing the Mythic Ability that lets me do my Strength in Damage to the target whenever I miss attacks, because some of these mob's AC's are Absurd.)

My character is level 16. Still in the Abyss city. And I figured at level 16 my hodgepodge guess and go along with it builds should probably be cleaned up to try to get ready for the inevitable difficulty spike I'm expecting later.

Any assistance anyone can offer in regards to helping me figure this build out would be appreciated.

I just don't know what would be considered "Optimal" in this regard.

Thank you.

I've tried something similar and here's the scoop about scythes.

1. They are martial - no exotic weapon or farmer required.

2. Highest potential crit (4x) damage but .. you need a 20. So you won't crit often. So even if you go down the critical focus path - it won't benefit you as much as say.. a falchion or similar.

3. Maybe they could be good vital strike weapons? I haven't got around to testing that yet.

Overall - i'd say what you're doing will work fine. I'm playing on hard with a longspear for crying out loud.

The scythe I found was a Keen Scythe, so 19-20 without much needed. But I kinda realized my gold dragon mythic path kinda.. fixes everything? LIke.. massively? it's kinda crazy.

retrain AND dont become a bloodrager dragon disiciple you're actually loosing more strength / damage. The more BAB you lose the more damage you lose. You likely have power attack, then you know that every 4 points of BAB increases the amount of damage you can do with power attack. assuming you're using it 1 handed, thats 2 4 6 8 10 12 if have 20 BAB (increase that by 50% if you wield your weapon 2-handed). if you went even 1 lv into Dragon Disciple you lose that last +12 (or +18 if you wield it 2H), a +2 in this case is equal to +4 str which just so happens to be what you get after 4 levels of Dragon Disciple. To top it off if you go 10 levels of DD you miss out on Greater Bloodrage which gives you an additional +1 to all your bonuses from bloodraging which would have given you +3 to attack, damage, will saves, etc etc etc. that damage is also increased if i recall if you wield a 2h weapon, so if i recall you'd have something like +22 to damage from just BAB and Bloodrage alone, not factoring in strength, or the base damage of the weapon.

Ignoring all the math stuff, i know you want a dragon theme, but trust in that the blood rager already does this very well, by allowing you to turn into a dragon later on while you rage, and since you can get infinite rage by the end of chapter 1, that means you can have infinite form of the dragon 2 by 16th lv, which is only 1 level longer than you'd have to wait for the once or twice a day limited duration form of the dragon 2 from Dragon disciple.

the reason I went for the Dragon Disicple build was for the extra stats.

The Gold Dragons Mythic path, which was what I am on, completely replaces your BAB when yuo hit mythic rank 9, and makes it higher than you naturally would get with a +1 Bab class every level, so I didn't think the BAB loss would matter that greatly.

Getting 4 str 2 con 2 int for free, and nifty wings (Which in this game is a +3 Melee dodge bonus) was a bonus.

It's alright. I kinda found out the Gold Dragon Path I'm on kinda does alot of things that I did not realize it did.

Including buffing up all your stats so the base stats are changed to being 14 from whatever they were, making any weapon / natural weapon in your hands a +5 weapon. Increasing your BAB to be higher than base Bab. Ect.

Honestly I'm not really suer if there's a way to min-max the gold dragon path now that I have it. I think i t's just.. there, and kinda lets me do whatever.

I do appreciate your feedback. If it wasnt' for the fact Gold Dragon Mythic Path kinda just throws most of the issues out of the water I'd say you made some fair points. I might lesson Dragon disciple to just 4 if I can figure out how to respecc now (The trainers missing) because the extra skill points from int is pointless ( Gold Dragon fixes that, again) and the flat +4 strength withotu losing any BAB in the end is just great.
