Queen Galfrey Romance Topic

Thought I would throw this up as I have seen no other topics or guides discussing how to go about this. I honestly hope it's not incredibly convoluted like the hidden romance option that was in Kingmaker. I am attempting this on my 1st run but honestly I am going in blind and have no idea if what I am doing is right. I'll list where I am and what I've done below but I figured for anyone whose finished the game and/or gotten her romance unlocked to list their path below as well. As always spoiler if you need to for major events.

Naturally if a guide is out there that has worked by all means feel free to link it here. Hopefully nothing I've done will require me to start over.

Act 1
Once finished and the Queen is introduced I kissed her hand.
Act 2
Convinced the Queen to join the crusade
When discussing with the Queen in camp just thanked her for joining the army, no snark responses. Acted like a commander/soldier.
During the assault on the citadel I Did not give away the Queen's incognito secret
Chose Angel Mythic Path but this probably has no bearing on her romance
I successfully took Drezen keep quickly and earned her reward at the beginning of act 3. I just thanked her rather than being snarky and saying So we are a couple now, are we?
Act 3
Currently here, will update as I go along for anything pertaining to the Queen.

Not evil and not chaotic I suppose. Did a little reddit research. According to it, your romance status actually decided at the end of 3rd chapter, right before the attack on underground thing. If you did things right, she will call you for a private talk. And Azata's commander literally decide to "Let's not wait for queen and attack while demons are not ready'. I started an Aeon run to check this.

Golden dragon and Legend are not avialable at this point, but I assume changing into them will not broke things. Especially Legend, because Iomedai is your mentor on this path

And yes, I forgot about that, but returning the relic definitely scores some points with Galfrey

So that leaves us with Angel and Aeon, later branching into Legend and Golden dragon. But nopes out Azata, Trickster and every evil path.

As for other romances, it's hard to understand if they are working wrong/not working because of the bug (wouldn't be first time) or because you screwed up somewhere.

Hmmm I suppose her being anti Chaotic makes sense . So 5 allligments cannot romance her for sure . Legend and Dragon SHOULD be ok though. I mean , the only difference between Angel and Golden Dragon is that you are less inclined to chop heads ( I am starting to really dislike Lawfull dialogues ,they dont fit LG at all )

So at the end of act 3 on the Angel path the Queen did not find any fault with my leadership

But she still wanted to remove me from my command post so it seems like theres nothing that can prevent that reaction.
I gave her amulet relic back as well as the book from Areelu's laboratory in Act 3, not sure if that helps still push her towards a romantic inclination
I used the Angel dialogue choice to let her keep me enlisted as the commander of the crusade.
She does NOT like Arueshalae being in your party when you conquer the Fane but you can use the Angel mythic dialogue choice to convince her or a super high diplomacy check.

Again no clue if that pushes her towards a romantic inclination or not.

Do you remember what choices you made with her in chapters 2 and 3 that may have led to that outcome? That way other players can try different paths and see if their decisions change the end?

From the top of my head, I asked her to join my army in chapter 2, at the end of 2 I made the joke about being engaged after she gave the ring. Chapter 3, she wanted to have a private conversation where she was talking about her duty as a queen and how she can't put her personal feelings above her duty. Mostly I tried to pick the flirty or good/lawful responses to her questions. At the end of chapter 3, she still got upset at my character because I had Arueshalae in my party. Also I gave her half of Areelu's book from the lab that you find but I didn't have my character accept the power from the book. (she gave the book back to me in chapter 5 after I saved her in Iz). Chapter 4 there's the part with the storyteller in the tower where you can ask how the Queen is doing and eventually he gives you the letter from her. When you get back and save Drezen again after chapter 4 he can read her thoughts / emotions when she was trying to write the letter so had him do that.

Sorry I dont remember specific conversation options that I picked, if that's saved in save file data I could open mine up and look for that. Sorry I am not much help.

Weird I never got a chat with her in Chapter 3 about duty and personal feelings. I wonder where that happens and what the trigger for it is.

If I recall it was when she arrives at the end of the chapter but before you start the last area.

before the end of Chapter3 you start to attack the midnight fane,she will asked for a "private talk"，in this talk she will say something about duty and personal feeling。
BTW，Im walking on the azata path and also activate this event，but I dont know is this means Im successed to romance her or not，because she said the duty is most important and her personal feeling can wait， its sounds like she rejected me？
I thought this might be a faled flag for romance her，but I see otherone activated this event and also be able to sleep with her，its makes me confusing。hope someone on the angel path can tell me is there any difference？

That's okay, just wait till the final assault, she'll confess her love and join your party for the last push.

So, I romanced her with the true Aeon. and it was all good until the end. I did not know there is a difference between true Aeon and renegade Aeon, so you can imagine how that worked out.

My steps, if anyone need it:
Act 1: Kissed hand.
Act 2: First conversations in camp:
Restored some artefact buckle, and returned it to her.
Agreed with her former decision to punish Stenton.
Laughed with her about appointing Daeran for councillor.
Used Aeon choice to force her to stay.
Told her I'm lucky she agreed to join. (There is no difference between this phrase or more flirty one, her reaction is the same, "I know see what a man you are, etc". Third option, about age, and she stops conversation immediately)
When met her at sanctum, amidst gargoyle attack:
Choose good (or was it angel? of both? can't remember) to restore faith in captive crusaders. She seems to disapprove any other one.
Said that I worried about her.
Choose good option that demons shall answer for what they did.
Act 3: After taking Drezen:
Received reward for efficient crusade, joked about the ring.
After waiting for her arrival at the end of the chapter:
Gave her first part of Lexicon (that's very helpful in Act 5. Because of that book Galfrey will go straight to the library, instead of mingling with undead Terendelev, thus giving you 2 time-issued goals instead of 3).
When she talked about duty, told her that I hope that she will find some time for herself after the war. As Galfey, not Queen of Mendev.
Always helped her during assault.
She allowed me to retain position as the commander. Her only problem was Arue (not even in party, just recruited), but Galfrey is easily persuaded into dropping the subject.
Act 4: Asked Storyteller to say hi to her.
Act 5; Went for her first at the battle for Iz (thanks for Lexicon she was heading into library anyway).
Told her I'm not angry, and after that basically exhausted every option (except from [Attack her] of course).
At Drezen, after the battle, told her that I thought we are more then friends. After that things are pretty straightforward. She will reject you after the night together, but later, when she sees that victory is possible, right before the final battle she will change her mind.
And then some stupid Aeon travels to the past, kills Varlesh before she opens Wound. And ceases to exist because he killed Varlesh while she was still innocent of the crimes. Everyone got different lives, but remembered the Commander. Galfrey becomes queen at 40 and dies without marrying anyone. So much bittersweet.
I assume Angels or renegade Aeons will have much happier endings.

That event can happen with anyone remotely good, but later she will reject you because of your Mythic path.

Also want to add that if you're dating any other characters the events in chapter 5 will fail because she'll mention that she knows your character is seeing someone already. Somehow my character got into a thing with Lann, so I had to reload a save and end that before talking to the Queen.

Good stuff right here. Take my award. Sadly I think I've missed too many points earlier in the game so sadly going to start anew even though partway through Act IV. Don't really want to complete the run without it. I'll try to make sure I have all 5 essences so I can restore the artifact at the beginning of Act 2 and somehow try to find a way to get the private conversation with her in Act 3. I guess I was too "no nonsense" for her and should have been more flirty.

You can give her the artifact at the end of act 3 before the attack on Midnight fane. Its much easier to do so since the only way to give it to her in act 2 is if you somehow assemple it in act 1 .

That said I fear she will reject me because of Arue . It seems trying to redeem her is flirty no matter what you do . At the very least she is falling for you. If she rejects because of Lann I cant imagine what she will do about Arue .
