Need Help: Marhevok in Wintersun
I’m playing on “Daring”, already did some other quest in Act 3. Until now, some of the encounters were hard for me, but they always seemed fair.

Entrance of Marhevok, chief of Wintersun, huge a**hole, probably cheating. I just can’t seem to do anything against him. He has high AC, permanent blur. He casts mirror image and(!) attacks on every turn. wtf? The fight ends with him being the last one standing. I’m just not doing enough damage, while he slowly hacks down my defenses.

I don’t want to “just lower the difficulty” - cause so far, “daring” was fun for me and I want to learn how to deal with this new challenge.

My builds:
I am using Seelah, Aru, Woljif, Daeran and Ember. They are mostly build according to the guides on fextralife ( https://fextralife.com/author/reiku/page/2/ ).
Except Seelah - I wanted someone in my group who fights on a mount - so I got her a horse to do the tanking for her (mounted shield and shield focus feats, shield of faith). Seelah is on of the best damage dealers in my group, so I think she is fine. MC is a sylvan sorcerer.

I use Bless, Align Weapon, Crusaders Edge, Heroism, Shield of Faiht, Protection from Aligment, Mage Armor, Mutagens and Blur to buff my pary. I am trying to weaken him with Dispel magic (which tends to just miss?), Ray of Sickening / Enfeeblement / Exhaustion – Evil Eye / Cackle - but while those spells don’t miss, they are not sufficient.

I think the main problem is me failing to overcome his huge defenses. I only get about one or two hits in before the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gets his mirror image back up.

I am trying to use magic missiles to destroy the mirror image fragments ASAP, but it’s still not fast enough. I guess I’ll have to travel back to the city and get some more scrolls? But which ones will help? What am I missing?

I don't know off-hand if they're available on the vendors, but presumably True Seeing spells/scrolls would help with the mirror image and blur.

Nice, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ is down.

For everyone who is wondering about what made the difference (on turn-based mode):
- Casting Contagion to lower his caster stat
- Delaying attackers until casters succesfully landed "dispel magic"
- Using True Seeing scrolls

Thx @ Thicc Mittens & Anarchium

The key for me was Communal True Seeing, along with summoning a Nixie Prankster (Trickster Mythic). He really has it out for casters, it seems, and went for the prankster right away. He did manage to kill it, but he wasted a couple rounds doing so, and by then I had Regill and Greybor wailing on him while my tank distracted the dragon and the Kalevaka's were down a pit

Necro: I found him to be a rather easy target with Nenio using Icy Prison on him. (Nenio was 11th level at the time on Core). His reflex stat is not overly challenging to beat, so he froze. I finished his minions and he did nothing as I hacked him down.

The easy way is a well build DC caster, grease, hold person/monster, h. Laughter, stinking clioud, chain of light, icy prison... with a bit luck even embers slumber hex could work.

To enhance ur chances use evil eye (saves) and demorailse with someone with a very high persuation skill. There i a touch attack spell, to make someone fatigued or exhausted, a good way to break his rage.

In drezden you gain a google, once per day you can take 20 to dispel magic. Give this one someone with greater dispel magic for a sure cancel of 3 of his buffs.ä

Communal Stomeskin can help you to hold on, until all ur debuffs work.

One thing you can do for Seelah (or your MC if they're a high strength build) is start moving down the Sunder Armor / Disarm tree, It does make harder fights a bit easier if you have a way of dealing with Mirror Image either via dispelling it with Ember or having Lann or Aru remove the images

You should be 11th lvl before fighting Marhevok, FWIW. You shouldn't have any difficulty hitting him when buffed by Seelah's Mark of Justice and Sosiel's Guarded Hearth (from Impossible Domain: Community).

True Seeing at that level? Oof. Yeah, you'd have to use scrolls.

Domains are huge like stated above, impossible domain community and madness are worth taking any sort of cleric with you just for difficult fights, i always make a cleric instead of Daeren just for them. Also as people pointed out, many mythic demons will have concealment and true sight or see invisibility at the same time. You can turn it back against them later with mind blank though.

You could pick up a cleric with animal domain that has 2 impossible domains (community and madness) which would allow your MC to roll any type of arcane caster *cough* wizard* without losing anything.
