Through the Ashes - Any point to saving people?
Do I get anything if I save people in this dlc or by importing the save to the next one? I ask because I'm playing an evil character, so, either I get something out of it, or I'l just let them all die/kill them all.

Aside from achievements, you'll also get rewards in the second part (Lord of Nothing) if they live. Plus they're very useful in much of Through the Ashes' storybook segments.

They have no effect on the main campaign other than cameo appearances if they live.

I think they also help on the main maps as well. I recall them doing things like clearing obstacles (maybe party fatigue if you do it yourself?) and playing music for NPCs to get misc benefits.
Ok, so, just to clarify, I'm only playing this dlc because I've heard that at the end of the next one there's an unlock for something new in the main campaign, so now I'm gonna speed-run through this only to unlock that. Actually, now that I think about it, I could simply start from Lord of Nothing and complete that one. There isn't going to be any difference in what gets unlocked in the main campaign if I just skip completely Through the Ashes, right?

By completing Through the Ashes you get a special metamagic wand inside the main campaign. That one turns converts spells into cold spells and applies a secondary debuff. And you can upgrade that one in the main campaign part of Lord of Nothing.

Allright, thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to suffer them both then.

lord of nothing was a real let down.

So like near the start, my party member said he'd go on ahead and that I didn't need to come. So I decided not to go. And it just ended there, right at the start of the DLC (I think). Got the achievement for completion, but very unsatisfying.

I don't know why they gave me such an option.

I'm pretty sure it's to get access to the dungeon in the main game without having to do the DLC (so that you only need to do the DLC for the actual bonus stuff). As some people (like me) don't really like having separate campaigns.
Actually I would have prefered if they added the new companions instead to the main game, have their campaign added as companion quests and have new mythic paths added instead (like an evil dragon path and an elemental path).

The DLC 4 and 6 were the correct decision imo. Midnight isles is good as a rogue like mode for dungeon crawlers fans though.

Wait, so there's a way to completely bypass this useless dlc and still unlock the Demon Lord in the main campaign? Do I lose anything in the main campaign if I use this shortcut?

Through the Ashes has a certain choice you can make at the very -end- of the DLC. Doing so will skip the separate campaign bit of its sequel DLC The Lord of Nothing.

I see, so I'll have to play at least that one. Again, thanks for the very useful information!
