Stuck in a fight
Can't defeat the minotaur, cultists, and the three dretch cuz of their stupid stinking cloud. Passing a DC 17/18 is just impossible at level 5. Any tips on the fight would be great.

Edit: This fight takes place in the Grey Garrison. Sorry I should have said that sooner. Just realized the fight at the Inn was similar. It also sucks a lot of tips include "you must use this specific companion" because using the companions you want to is just not an option in this game.

What's your difficulty setting?
In normal and core difficulty, at least, the answer is grease. lots and lots of grease. It gets the dretchs, it gets the Minotaur, it gets the cultists, and I believe it's sold in the tavern before the fight. Just grease the north and south exits of the compound at the beginning of the fight - preferably two puddles on each side - and you're good. Also don't leave Lann/Wenduag out of this fight. This one is won with archers. give bows and crossbows to everyone.

There's also a wand of grease somewhere, but I don't think you can get it before this fight.

Thanks but that is advice for the fight at the Inn. That doesn't help me in the Grey Garrison.

I don't have her in my party. She is still in the group but you can only bring so many with you. I replaced her with the awesome Griffon Shifter. He has been amazing in combat. I also use Woljiff, the Oracle, Lann, and Seelah.

Why not? As far as I recall, it worked on the Grey Garrison as well. You just need your wizard to roll a high initiative roll.

If you're not using Cam (i.e. don't care about her build), you can have her take scribe scrolls and/or brew potions. Have her make some Delay Poison consumables. Alternatively, you can select Delay Poison as one of "the Oracle's" known level 2 spells.

More generally, this is about forming your party to handle the various challenges thrown at them. Delay Poison isn't required, but what's your plan to handle this situation? Your team has a lot of damage-dealing capability - that's not necessarily a bad thing. Passing a DC17/18 fort save shouldn't be too difficult for some of your characters (i.e. Seelah, Lann) as long as you don't stay in the cloud.

However, in general, buffs are an important aspect of this game. Having a wide assortment of buffs available can be extremely helpful.

Just seems crazy how low my saving throws are against opponents but then my saving throws to resist the enemy are extremely high. So many times the enemy avoids things like grease. The only AOE spells they fail a lot is entanglement and pit. So that means I either need Cam or Nenio or else my team doesn't work. It sucks being forced to use specific characters.

There are at least two scrolls of delay poison that are available before the Gray Garrison. One of them is in the Market Square. Not sure where I found the other, but I had two for the Gray Garrison (used them on Lann and Woljif).

This fight is best done with RTwP - don't let the Dretch have time to cast, charge in and attack.

I used Create Pit, Grease, Slow and Haste. I handled the small fries before the minotaurs got out of the pit.

Wish Grease was more full proof. It usually works on a minotaur but it is a 50/50 if it works on a dretch it seems.
