Report a translation problem
I just ignore the gender icon for companions. Its not referenced in any way, nor do they have the 'parts' on their models. I'm sure there's probably some way to adjust the gender setting with mods but it doesn't really matter.
With the power of imagination, and this being a single player game, your animal companion IS female. Do not let the limitations of code, or the inability to select animal companion sex/gender ruin your immersion.
Already, WOTR expands on animal companions, when/if they make a 3rd Pathfinder game, perhaps we'll see even FURTHER expansion of animal companions!

Owlcat simply didn't bother creating female models. Not like they couldn't give us a sex choice either way. It just wasn't noteworthy for them to implement.
Not like the animals are going to reproduce so why the hell they would add that
