Here's what I'll say, zippy magic and hideous laughter do work together but I've seen people complain it takes a toll on their CPU.
Fused spells do not function as a new spell with the combined effects of both spells.
Fused spells function as if you cast both spells separately in a single action.
In other words, think of the fused spell as casting Spell A followed by Spell B. But instead of two standard actions, it takes one standard action.
Therefore, in the case of Hideous Laughter + Vampiric Touch with Best Jokes, the following would happen:
- The target would be affected by Hideous Laughter. If the target fails its save, the Hideous Laughter would be spread to another target because of Best Jokes.
- The target would be affected by Vampiric Touch. The Vampiric Touch would not spread to another target because Best Jokes only works on Hideous Laughter, not Vampiric Touch.
Also, keep in mind that temporary hit points don't stack. So, even if it worked as you described, you wouldn't end up with lots and lots of temp hp.
