magic deceiver
For any who have not thought of this, I had an idea that works insanely well at low levels.
Combine Snowball and Color Spray.
No SR. An absolute hurricane of snow balls shoot out, and everyone is at least stunned.
No to hit roll for the snow balls as it is now a cone.

Does that mean you created a spell that makes snow cones? :goalhappy:

Now the Owlcat starts. I am trying the artificer type Deceiver and my amulet of natural armor improved to +2, but the ring of protection +1 and bracers +1 did not improve.
I took off the amulet to see if that affected anything. Nope. Bug.

One thing I'm disappointed : no cantrip fusion!

im curious how that worked for you.. when i try that, snowball+color spray makes a nice cone attack but it has the 'effected by targets spell resistance' no combo of spell school or saving throw is giving me anything different. can you take a screenshot of your fusion?

Yes. Looks like the archetype only affects items with enhancement bonuses and nothing else.

Ring of Protection for instance isn't covered under it due to being a deflection bonus. But an Amulet of Natural Armor or Belt of Giant Strength works since that's an enhancement bonus.

Most bugged archetype so far, at least from my testing. His enchanting bonus for weapon and attributes stacks with Trickster trick, so you can get +10 weapon (5+5) and +13 to all stats belt (8+5) etc.

Schlumpsa, Thanks, I should have seen that, you completely explained what was going on.

Rifttweaver, my fault there. I created my SnowSpray, I saw the DC was modified by spell focus conjuration, so I was happy with it and just cleaned it up by changing from default single target to cone.
Did not notice that when I changed to cone i lost the no spell resistance part.
I was so excited by that spell, sigh.

It does still work great against cultists in the early game, so some use still.

ah, ty for clearing that up, sadly cultist arnt exactly the most durable of enemies no matter what, though lol.

i like the concept of the class, im just struggling to find a way to make it actually useful since its so limited with spells

Me too also.
It is cool and thematic, and barely functional.

I added a Magic deceiver to my party at level 9. She's interesting. I combined Fireball and Hold Person and have frozen a large enemy party, something I have never been able to do in the past. Boneshaker and the 2nd tier trap do pretty respectable AE damage that doesn't get resisted. And I went with the way of the charlatan that has a decent debuff, that works like an anti-inspire courage.

I'm not completely sold on the character yet, but I'm finding some use. I've been able to tailor spells to different resist types and shapes, in order to target weak spots on the enemy. I would be a lot more excited if I could get a Selection meta-magic feat.

In theory it is a GREAT Azata character. Blastr + CC.

If you take the Time abilities, paired with the azata restoring your spells, you will be casting extremely powerful fusion spells all day long

Best, and the main selling point, of the new Archetypes
Doombringer Jun 16, 2024 @ 3:43am
The Time Manipulator abilities Chronomancy and Split Timeline are really strong, too bad they don't get the spell penetration mega-buff that 4/6 types get.

The class itself always ends up being some form of blaster mage.
Seems better as a merc than as a main character...
