Mods vs game version
So i still wonder to this day, what is more important for me.
I have EE on gog but do not use it because of mods.
I usually play on version 1.2 because some mods are not updated anymore.
They add some fun game features that I like. Furthermore, setting the game with all mods that you like also take some time.
It is the same with skyrim, I do not want for bethesda to update skyrim because it will break all of my mods.
So I wanted to ask if you had so much better experience with newest version of the game than with the older version.
Thanks for the info,
Cheers

most mods that matter have been updated. Some mods are no longer updated on Nexus, but are updated and available from other sites like git hub etc. there is a nice app called Mod Finder for wrath, this will help you keep most current mods install / uninstall, update. Use the discord channel to keep up to date also on mods.

I had so much issues with mods in kingmaker (especially because of saves breaking with newer versions) that I just didn't do mods at all in wotr, not even bag of tricks.
I kept it vanilla and it's so much of a peace of mind.

Mods are nice, but with 200h playthroughs on turn based, I prefer not to lose my saves because one mod didn't get updated for too long.

I never go without mods. The miniscule downside of having to wait a tad until mod authors push updates for current game versions is utterly eclipsed by the sheer bulk of offered content and usefulness provided by mods. I have absolutely no interest of ever going back to a vanilla install. This applies to both Kingmaker and WotR.

I second the tip about using the Mod Finder program: it is invaluable for a hassle-free, modded WotR. Double so as it tracks both mods hosted on Nexus and Github. It is easy to use and you get notify whenever new mod releases come out. Two thumbs up!

As for whether to remain at 1.2 or upgrading to 2.2.4... I personally would take the jump. Chances are even the old mods that don't get updated anymore by their authors have had alternatives for quite some time. The difference in game version is honestly like day and night, what with the DLC's offer and the addition to mythic abilities like Corruptor.
Never played without mods, Toybox has been in my load-order from the day the game came out and hasn't ever left, I've only added more mods since and I get way more enjoyment modded then I would without them, also general rule I never play on any difficulty that isn't custom simply due to the fact I'm playing the game for fun not for a challenge, if I wanted a challenge I'd play Elden Ring or Dwarf Fortress or any game where the game is designed to be hard and requires you to get good. But honestly use mods, it can be a pain to keep them up to date but its not hard to do so especially if you use Modfinder which will let you know if any mod has been updated and handles the installation and downloads for you.
