Ulbrig
What do you do with him
Right now I have him multi with Druid (drovier)
I'm not used to characters with natural attacks - other than pets
Just curious to see what you all do with him.

Typically Off-Tank and Back line Defense
I just keep him to use base class and use him to brrrrr death from above enemies with his stupid number of attacks and high stats. Having pounce and being able to use it on pretty much any enemy anywhere is QUITE STRONK

I left him at Shifter then immediately dipped into Forester for the extra feats (and teamwork tactics). He gets a few spells like magic fang and lead blades for buffing. Faerie fire is nice. Basically he's melee DPS with a reach or big 2hander, then I powershift him to gryphon with Shifter's Rush when things get crazy.

Also those Shifter+Forester class features stack so he has insane Lore (Nature).

edit: also those Forester pet-less self aspects synergize nicely with the shifter aspect. The Bear+Gryphon one (STR) doesn't stack, but he can utilize the others at will. Basically always have extra CON or DEX as well as STR from the gryphon aspect. I pretty much keep him with the +4 Perception buff out of combat, then flip him to DEX when a fight starts. His Perception and Lore (Nature) are ridiculously high for his level.

Shifter 15, Mutagen Warrior 5

Guess I'm boring - I just leveled him up in his class. So far the party is level 14. He's quite a glass canon, but got better at surviving with more levels. And with me having more practice at keeping him alive ^^ The flying charge is very nice.

His griffon form has reach. I keep him pure griffon. He attacks just fine behind my tanks.

Griffon Aspect with Shifter Claws - seems Ublrig loses attacks per round this way. With or without?
I'm playing the Sarkoris DLC now so using him nonstop and just trying to understand what the best tactics are for his shifter class
Also what do you do before his shifter level 19 to bypass DR/adamantine? Equip him with a +4 melee weapon?

You can't go by the info on the inventory/paperdoll page.
Turn into Griffon then go to Character -> Martial page. You'll see all 3 attacks listed there (and any extras you get from Shifter's Fury if you toggle it).

The main inventory page lies for shapechange/polymorph stats. Martial tab is always what you'll see in combat. This holds true for some other weird equipment combos (like helms that allow bite, etc). Always keep an eye on Martial tab.

Yeah I have to remember to do that. I knew some of the info was off but not the attacks.

On the Ulbrig note - is that all there is to the DLC? Gundrun and the small quests related to it, or do you go back? I dealt with all the quests there, forest spirit, etc.

Shifter 20...got Master Shifter at first opportunity so he can continually stay in Griffin shape, since that's his strongest form.

That's what many are saying keep him vanilla.
I'm giving him a few levels of druid so he can buff his natural attacks with magic fang and bone fists

That's fine if you don't care if he never gets the ability to ignore DR N/Adamantium and N/-
which is a HUGE buff at level 19. With master shifter, the level 20 capstone is redundant, so a 1-level dip should be fine.

Yeah I asked about that earlier. I guess give him a +4 weapon to carry.
Or does Greater Magic Fang equal that too?
Raikon Jun 24, 2023 @ 5:37pm
Pretty sure the crusader item, alter of the retriever, ends up being a shirt that gives +4 enhancement bonus to natural attacks (stackable) With a greater magic fang you can get +9.

Ulbrig is much better going pure shifter. You dont really get any bonuses better then the ones he already gets.
Raikon Jun 24, 2023 @ 5:40pm
If your party composition doesnt allow you to get greater magic fang, and you cant equip a mighty fist, or agile fist amulet, just hire a mercenary and have them make Greater magic fang potions. Then have ulbrig drink it.

It really isnt worth nerfing ulbrig over it. Especially since amulets/potions/scrolls exist.
