Dance of Masks festival small gripe
So I like Dance of Masks. It's fun and you get some good stuff out of it, even though it's close to the end of the game.

However, the festival has people dressed up as "The commander". Which is great. BUT, they only represent the mythic path you've chosen and not actually you. So if you play things like Angel, Gold Dragon, Azata and the like. Paths that have very noticable mythic physical properties then you will recognize yourself in these dressed up people. But what's missing is properties from your class, feats and race. So for instance if you play an Aasimar Legend with wings (you can take at level 15) and you're dressed up in a gown because you wear no armor and you see a bunch of people runnning around in armor and a big pot helmet without wings they are so far removed from what you look like it kind of ruins the whole experience.

I played this questline as an Azata first, which was great because every "commander" had Azata wings. My trickster Feyshifter with Fey wings was not reprisented, nor my Aasimar with wings. On trickster they all just wear an eye mask and that's it...

I kind of wish the "commander" dress ups would reflect the character more instead of just the mythic path choices. All the other characters are represented by their race and actual appearance, just not the commander.

An RP reason for that, is many wouldn't have seen the KC in person - or perhaps the myth of what the KC is, is doing what things like that tend to do - split from the truth.

I mean in that case why do the companion dress ups look "spot on"? The whole thing is kind of a wink to a comic con style thing. Which I appreciate. But the fact that no one actually looks like the commander is annoying. I mean they can pull off Lann and Arueshalae, but not me? I've not played this as a Tiefling. I bet the dress up people don't have horns and tails either.
Good point, I haven't gotten that far myself too busy with trying to cure my obsession over spotting another bug and chronic restartitis. OR perhaps it's a joke - you know all of the other party members are spot on apart from the KC.

To be fair, there's some 12 races each one very customizable in appearance, at least 10 potential Mythic Paths, and hundreds of Archetypes, and even more feats. Overall, I'm not gonna consider it a slight against Owlcat, as I think even adding in the Mythic Path variations was in of itself a massive undertaking. Not to mention companions cosplayers, the voice acting, the many new assets they'd have to make for areas, etc. Really, I just appreciate that this exists, as I think it's a very great DLC.

Oh no I totally get it from that perspective. But it still is kinda offputting.

Yeah. It's why I think it's better to do more with less. Sure, having a lot of classes and races and feats sounds good, and it is to an extent. But for reactions and roleplay potential, they often feel shallow, at least when it comes to video game versions of TTRPGs. Like, they can only program and account for so many potential interactions.

Hm, yea but the thing is. The illusionist near the old city gates can cast a spell that mimickes you completely, and if you check the visual adjustments mod all of these things that make you look a certain way are modular. They could have simply taken a handful of these like hair, wings and clothes to at least make them look the part. I mean it's already in the game, all you need is to apply them to these NPCs. Of course going for too many things will create issues. But honestly wings are such a huge part of the way you look. That should have been the bare minimum.
