Question About Recommended Specs and Performance...
Hello. I've only been gaming on P.C. for a couple of years and am still learning, but it appears I meet the recommended specs, but when I launch the game, my GPU usage goes to 99% and it's temperature starts rising fast. I have to set the resolution to like 720p and the settings to low just to get the GPU usage to calm and to quit skyrocketing.
Originally it was giving me crazy FPS readings all over the place so I set the FPS to 60 for the game in the NVIDIA app. I can run similar games at 4k (including the first Pathfinder) with no problem. Just wondering if the game is really that resource intensive or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.
Specs:
Windows 11/ RTX3080/AMD Ryzen 5800X/ 16 GB RAM

Your GPU should be able to run the game without breaking a sweat so something else is going on. I personally don't have any issues running the game on a 1080. Your issues are most likely related to the game itself and/or other software or driver issues. If you do a web search for "Wrath of the Righteous 100% GPU usage" you will probably be able to find any posts out there from people suffering from a similar issue.

It is likely not your gpu. Wotr is built on unity and unity is famous for being a badly optimized mess of an engine.

Win 11 gobbles ram, so you might just want more ram, in general.

And then the game is unity based, so there's memory leak problems if you leave it running too long.

I've been told this game runs better on smaller screen size, which is good for me because I always play low graphics on every game.

Me too don't worry, I got more temperature then Cyberpunk 2077. This game got serious GPU optimisation issues I remember it (First time launching the game the fans started and made so much noise haha and my GPU only went to the top, and that was only in the menu) until I change the settings

Fully remove shadows
Remove DoF / Bloom / SSR / HBAO / AA mode & quality the lower, and it will greatly help.

Yes it's ugly and annoying when you have the requirements to run it in Ultra full settings, but at least we can play with the textures on High (Yes it only has a minor impact on the GPU temp)
Thanks everyone for your replies! I was completely confused by the GPU 99% readings (another game that confusingly did this is the Sega Genesis/Megadrive Collection). I also forgot to mention that I constantly check for driver updates (probably a little obsessively...heh), so I know my drivers are updated. I actually have 16 GB of more RAM that I have yet to add to my pc, but I don't know if that will help. Oh, and I believe my VRAM is 10 GB. Forgot to include that in the specs if that matters.

The specs says the game should be running at 2.67GHz

My computer ran at 3.0Ghz+ before I stopped this from happening.

The GPU heat went down to 60°C that I don't even hear the fans running once in a while and that changes experience of the game.

There's no solution in the game since it may actually be a bug with Windows itself and the drivers don't take this into account that Windows itself has advanced settings to your gpu and cpu but most important the power supply. Neither does the videogame makers as they have no further knowledge about the OS they're running their games on.

Adding more power to a computer isn't a solution since Windows and the driver makers are dedicated to overclocking your pc.
Where are you getting the specs? That sounds really useful.
I haven't yet played this game but at least Kingmaker apparently could have issues when using "exclusive fullscreen" mode and recommended setting was borderless/windowed fullscreen. I wouldn't be surprised if WOTR had similar issues due to sharing the engine and much of the same software technology.
Also, if the VSync is turned off, turning it on might be worth a try.
There is an issue with the game's UI that is causing GPUs to go haywire. Vsync and framerate caps do nothing to alleviate the issue.

Hotspot Temperature when idling at the Marketsquare prologue: 79 degrees

Hotspot Temps when idling at the main menu or level up screen: 90 degrees

Opening up the container interface or dialogue box causes temps to rise. Hiding the bottom right text interface lowers temps.
