My Drunken Dragon
Slowly working my way through the game with a Drunken Master heading towards Gold Dragon Path. I had been using Crane Style for the lovely 'don't hit me' but I might repec eventually because I saw that Pummeling Style works with flurry of blows *or any full attack* and that leads right into Pummeling charge. so, Drunken Gold Dragon charges across the field, and unleashes a full attack with +5d8 per hit. Seems funny as heck. Am I missing something? (Other than 'use a skald!')

I've heard that flurry of blows doesn't work with wild shapes and polymorphs (polymorphed dragon form). You'd have to test it with Sohei and see if it works.

It "should" depend on what you polymorph into (which includes wildshape). But this game...no idea.

The line between unarmed strike and natural attack has always been really blurry.

If going the crane style route, gotta go halfling. Halflings have a racial "cautious fighter" feat that adds a further +2 dodge when fighting defensively.

The game distinguishes between natural weapons and unarmed fighting.
Most things you shapeshift into have natural weapons.

Flurry of Blows works with either unarmed attacks, or monk weapons. And I don't think those include bites, claws, wings, tails and other natural weapons.

Same for the unarmed fighting styles. They require you having bare fists, not claws.

Yep, just tested it. Sohei does nothing for natural attacks.

It's not about flurry of blows. It is about pummeling style, which claims to work off of flurry of blows *or* a full attack action.

Pummeling style allows pummeling charge which lets you flurry of blows *or* full attack off of a charge.

So yes, you lose flurry of blows but you are a dragon+drunken ki pool bonus+drunken power bonus with all those natural attacks on a charge.

Pummeling Style also only works with unarmed attacks. At least according to the description.

Ahhhh you are right. I was using the wiki to theorycraft and it very much does *not* include the full description.

So if you were a motherless tiefling monk then it would work with your unarmed strikes but the bite would be registered separately for DR, and not activate on a charge.
generalluxun Dec 27, 2024 @ 3:16pm
I'll just stick with crane style then and be unhittable.

I would advice not to use fextralife. They are often inaccurate, outdated or wrong.
Even without them abusing your bandwidth with their twitch integration so that they can use you as a "viewer".

Try this one:

Fair enough! I should have just verified it in game. At least I didn't start with that in mind, so it's not the end of the world. A lot of the Drunken Master abilities do stack with the dragon form.
