Other Side of Threshold, portal won't work
I'm in the middle of that stupid puzzle there. Found out some stuff by myself, got stuck, followed a video guide. Now I'm at the point where the video guide said/showed that the portal next to a mechanism I repaired lights up and can be used.
Only for me it doesn't happen. Am I screwed completely or do I have to switch back some lever and if so, which one?

Which portal? There are several of them scattered around.
ajfusch Mar 31, 2023 @ 5:49am
The first one. Thought I made that clear, but apparently not. Sorry.

If there are different orders I can look up the location ...

If I remember correctly all four portals should light up at once, and prior to that you need to use your teleport to navigate.

Hmm... so I have NO idea what I did wrong then. I inserted the piece in the mechanism that made the portal light up in the video. Have to watch the video again to see if I missed anything.
I really hate these stupid puzzles. The DLC was fun up to that point ... even if most enemies just exploded on seeing me. That was its own kind of fun.

Now bare in mind I don't have a save to confirm this so I'm going off memory based on a cheated run in unfair I did just to activate the rifts in my real campaign a couple of weeks ago, but the way I remember the dungeon goes like this. ... So take it with a grain of salt because I might be misremembering something.

You enter the trap, learn teleporting, throw a lever that opens the rest of the dungeon ... find the machine bits to activate the two houses, repair the machine that let's you learn the combination for the giant dial, kill the super golem, find the semi-hidden platform that gives you the clue (and spawns the guards with the puzzle plates) to activating the machine that gives you the bonus power. ... Right before you get to the platform with the keystone you should find a lever that activates all four portals which you need to go through in the correct order to get some bonus loot.

But like I said, that's going off memory of a speedrun I did a few weeks ago so take it with a grain of salt.

I'm about to give up. Maybe cheating at the clock puzzle breaks the puzzle?
I've run around everywhere I can reach, pulled each lever I can still pull, found the clock that way, that showed me the times. I did the clock puzzle before that, though, so nothing changed. I'm out of levers, loot and opponents. Found both houses and went in. The portals are inactive, not lit up, no button to click. There were buttons on them before, but not anymore.

I don't care about extra loot, I just want to continue the story. If anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Originally, I solved the clock by brute-force. Much later, I finally found the actual clue that shows the solution. Regardless, I think the clock puzzle is completely optional. Did "cheating at the clock puzzle" involve mods? If not, there shouldn't be any problems (and there might not be any problems even if it was from mods).

Reading through this thread, I cannot figure out where you are. Have you found Ssila'meshnik? Can you post some screen shots of the map that you've explored?

That's a good question, because if you found the keystone and the chaos snake the dungeon is complete if you don't care about the additional loot, and I remember the portals being optional.

Also if by "cheating" the puzzle you mean looking up the solution and solving it before fixing the clock, no, that doesn't break anything.

No keystone. Not sure about the snake. Is it a boss fight you can't miss? Then I didn't have it. There is a body lying around that vaguely looks like a greenish/blueish snake-creature, that won't vanish. But is was there as a body from the first time I saw it.
I got the mythic ability where enemies that don't make the will save explode. Maybe that's what happened and I would have needed to talk to it to advance?

I met and killed the creature that said something about protecing this area and me, and forced me to kill it, but giving me the gloves before.

Yes, I simply looked up the solution, I run no mods.

Huh, found a ledge I hadn't been after all. With a mechnaism that made the portals light up. Let's see how it goes from here. Thanks, anyway. Wish me luck ;-)

You can't miss it, it sounds like what happened is some of the ledges are too well hidden in the background (I hated that in my run.) ... and as I remember the path you are looking for is all the way in the beginning of the dungeon.

Just in case this helps ...

The final area you're looking for (leads to the story encounter that progresses the game) is at the end of this video. The final "jump" to the area is at about 53:50. The beginning of the video is when I first entered Other Side of Threshold. It's a let's play (i.e. not a guide), so it'll probably be difficult to follow. Also, this was made shortly after the release, so it'll look different than the current version. I think the changes are mostly cosmetic.

Thanks, I'm back at my camp now. Well, not my camp but the excesses camp ...
Anyway, I'm out of that puzzle. :-)

Oookayyy.... I thought I was done with that stupid clockwork world. Silly me.
Then I thought "Hey, that works better, I can do that by myself". Silly me.
I'm stuck again, no idea how to get to the boss fight(s) and guides don't help me, because I didn't follow them right from the start, so I have no idea where I am so to speak.
Just reading the guides make my brain shut down, since they're telling me, without a map, what I should do and where. Without a map I have no idea where that's all supposed to be. Video guides don't help, either. Cause again, they don't show the group's position on the map. (found yours, Forkofspite, sorry, still doesn't help.)

I'd rather try a difficult fight 20 times than run back and forth uselessly in a big freaking puzzle.

From the second house:

1) Jump up to a big platform to the south. In the southwest corner of this platform, there are three interactions labeled A, B, and C.

2) From the southeast corner of that platform, jump up to a new platform to the east. This is a small, 4-hex platform with a lever and a portal. Flipping the level lowers a section leading south from the original entry point to Other Side of Threshold. It also activates the portal which takes you back to that original platform.

3) Go back to the original platform (portal, or walk/jump yourself - shouldn't matter), and head south along the new section. At the end of that section, jump up to the east. At the end of that section, jump up to the east again. At the end of that part, jump up to the south.

4) Head south towards the center of this huge platform. You have arrived at your destination.

Erm ... the houses are in the first part of this, right? I'm out of there, I'm already at the "escape" part.

I can see a platform with a mechanism that I haven't switched, but no idea how to get there.
