weapon availability
Is there some source available on what weapons are viable to practically use? specifically weapons that won't require shopping for an outdated enhancement level once per act because Owlcat just never bothered to give any to enemies or put any in chests around the place.
I'm thinking of making a Sword Saint and get hit by the rude surprise of "oh, yeah that weapon is basically unsupported, hope you weren't planning to give Finnean to anyone else~"

For a list you could look here for example: https://pathfinderwrathoftherighteous.wiki.fextralife.com/Weapons

But one important thing to note: no weapon becomes 'outdated' in Wrath.
You have 'magick weapon' and 'greater magick weapon' spells for a reason. It's quite suprising to me, how many players ignore those. It can make any weapon a +5.

Mostly true. But a lot of the lower level enchantment effects become pointless as their DC becomes so low that opponents could only fail on a 1. Or have minimal impact, like the pick that reduces an opponents DR by 1 per hit when you are almost always ignoring DR anyways. Also, along that line, greater magic weapon doesn't allow you ignore DR. Just in case people are not aware, weapons with a certain enchantment bonus are able to ignore certain types of DR. The list is
+1 - magic
+3 - cold iron/silver
+4 - adamantine
+5 - aligned (good/evil/chaotic/lawful)

Earliest +4 weapons are Staff and EarthBreaker in act 3 :) Most bonkers weapons are sold by merchants. Exotic weapon dealer sells . As I have understood the greater magic weapon spell can make any toothpick a formidable weapon since it stacks with original enchantment.

Honestly if you are a Magus you already have Greater magic weapon/Access to Bane and Dimension strike so the only thing that really matter weapon wise is the Crit range and if the weapon as reach.

With Kingmaker there was that problem that not all weapons had good versions but in wrath you got a huge variety first finnean than the relics you find with your crusade armys that you can turn into different items.

make sure to get woljif as a companion in act 1 because he also acts as a blackmarket merchant you can buy good stuff until the last act.

This list[www.neoseeker.com] is more useful because it shows you which act each item appears in so you can plan a bit better. Do note, however, that the items that show "kingmaker" as their location are not in the game.

In general, for reasons others have mentioned, if you want to do the most damage go for the weapons that give you the biggest crit range.
Rapiers, greatswords, and longswords are heckin everywhere in this game. Can't go outside without tripping over a stabba of headache +1.

That and Glaives, not to mention that are the only weapon in the game you can get a free permanent +1 hit/damage on them pretty much at the start of the game. Somebody at owlcat really loves them glaives.

Scimitars are also very good: good crit range and plenty of great ones to be found in game.

In addition, there is Radiance: a scaling magic longsword you can find in the prologue.
