It might be an oversight, considering the option for normal is per default to use the highest skill value among the party members.
If I could have her do the skill checks by opening the Lexicon while on her Inventory, I'd gladly do so, as Nenio is the divine arbiter of Lore/Knowledge Checks (and Use Magic Device as a secondary field of study). My current playthrough's Bloodrager17 Arcane Bloodline Steelblood Azata, meanwhile, is nimble (High Mobility and Athletics) and Persuasive (because in CRPGs I always like to build my MC to be highly Persuasive even if I can use companions for the Persuade checks (Aru mostly covers them for me, as she has nearly 20 more total Skill Value than me in Persuasion.)), but dumb as a rock when it comes to the Knowledge and Lore skills, and especially garbage when it comes to Stealth and Trickery (Makes no sense from an RP perspective to put more than 1 rank each in Stealth and Trickery (for the sake of actually having them count as Trained, just in case I'm forced to do lockpicking or stealthing using my MC instead of the various party members that are better suited to those things) as a Bloodrager (a class that basically amounts to "Barbarian, but magic spells").
Honestly, as long as Nenio were to narrate what she was reading from her successful Knowledge/Lore Skill checks on the Lexicon, I don't care if she'd try burning it afterwards for the sake of science. I just want the ability to use Ms. Forgetful McKnowledgeFox for the damned book of Knowledge/Lore checks.
Dunno, situation with Lexicon seems reasonable to me. You can treat passing all 4 skill checks as a shortcut. General approach is with collecting Storyteller notes, which is available to every MC with any build.
Sure, but passed Skill Checks=free XP, on top of the XP from completing the quest to get all of the Storyteller's notes.
