I've just captured Drezen, what should my build queue look like?
What should be my priorities for buildings? In Kingmaker I had a better idea of what to do, but in WotR I'm not sure what to focus on. I've read that I should build a supply center in each fort and an inn a couple of them. Does that sound about right? What should I focus on in Drezen itself? Should I try to drop a heap of gold into buying resources to build things quickly?

Just finished Drezen and holy moly! When you think you got the game figured out, the game opens up even more! Im completely overwhelmed lol.

Im looking for some tips on what you guys usually build first or what army units you prefer I guess. I legit have no idea what to start with.

I was thinking army buildings for more recruit units but then I saw the workshop that reduces the buildings cost and also the tavern that gives a passive income (I guess?).

So im not sur. Any suggestions/tips?

I had the same/very similar feeling. For a long time even I did not know you can build in Drezen. I thought only with the outposts.

My advice based on my personal experience:

1. Go for Mercenaries first

2. Build supply depots wherever and the Engineering Guild to reduce building costs

3. Once the supply lines stands go for barracks and archer ranges, while keeping in mind enough space for the bigger buildings which give adjectant boni.

4. Teleportation circle might come handy since you need to rest a lot in Drezen to maintain a low level corruption

5. Improve stuff steadily

For my army I chose a shield general first. By the long shot it felt like I should go for spellcaster since the effects are much more obvious with direct damage spells. But every general can level up and gain more skills to increase army size and having even attack spells as shield general.

My main battalion structure is clerics, which are really strong and give a strong bonus with smite evil and healing, rangers, and champions plus tank units. The plus comes usually with a more experienced general which allows you to increase army.

By the look you can tell the similarity to a normal party.

Tank (Barbarians, Champions, Shield Bearers)
Damage Dealers (Rangers)
Support (Clerics)

I am still new in Drezen but so far I have no seen any use for a second army. I focus in one single army and keep the rest as reserves, recruiting whatever is available to make the whole bigger. I wish the game would offer more opportunities to level up my weak general who seems doomed to stay weak, since she needs experience to level up and to increase army size.

6. Once you figure out which kind of units you like, check if you need a higher finance income or you want to recruit more. The outpost barracks and training grounds etc. increase the number of units you can recruit in Drezen.

I guess I am getting "forums-old"...

most important buildings are
for recruiting archers and having each week enough finances to spend on recruiting them
other than that yes the supply center should be build early on to have enough building materials to get logistic leveled up, unless you want to spend your own gold on later acts for materials, which is also viable

There are three buildings that increase the number of soldiers you can recruit. Then there are several that buff those buildings with adjacency bonuses. You have to work out a placement plan to max adjacency bonuses to your liking (which depends on the type of soldiers you like best). Bottom line is you can never have enough soldiers. The rule here is simple: just like in Kingmaker were if you looked after your kingdom your kingdom will look after you, here you look after your army and it will look after you.

OK, thanks - more resources and more soldiers basically.

You got it. To be fair: every strategy game can be reduced to that...
The archers uber alles actually makes sense. While marksmanship is difficult and longbows require training from early age, training a peasant to fire arrows in *that* direction is considerably easier than training melee soldiers in a way that won't get them impaled as soon as they step on the field.
And considering that demons generally attack without any regards to their own and run headlong into you, arrow volleys from a defensible position would work quite well.

Kolkhozzadeh? A strategist? Maybe against Galfrey... most honorable Al'Mahti, he'll find, will prove to be a tougher cookie.
