Evil spells
Sorry, here comes another question. Ember just got a spell for free which has the evil descriptor. Basically, what happens if she were to use it? Will it push her alignment towards evil?

A little quality time with google tells me the original idea is that evil spells are, if used, by default an evil act. The question is whether or not this goes for the game, too. The encyclopedia in game is rather vague on the matter.

No, it doesn't affect alignment in-game. The descriptors, like sonic and fire, are only referred to by other affects and abilities. For instance, a character might have a bonus to AC vs evil spells or something like that.

Clerics of any alignment can cast any aligned spell too without consequence, even though they shouldn’t. The only time alignment is “enforced” with spells are the higher tiers of Summon Monster, but with that the choice is made for you.

Thank you kindly.

Technically in PnP casting evil spells is supposed to shift your alignment gradually towards evil, but it's not really enforced in Wrath. (And probably most tables, really.)

I mean it makes sense, I can see why they wouldn't put it in the game.

I have fond memories of one of my earliest TT games where I failed hard as a paladin. The whole concept of lawful good hadn't really sunk in and I ran into a brick alignment wall at very high speed indeed.

Haha, I remember when I was first told about the concept of alignments. My dumb self thought it was a straight line, so lawful good meant "the most good" and chaotic evil meant "the most evil"

That's the story of how my first character ever was paradoxically a Lawful Good Rogue.

Those were the days. XD
