Turn based: Less action points on first round?
In turn based, my characters always start out able to do less things on the first round than the enemy i.e can't move and attack. They are often useless, while enemies are using full move and attack. Please fix this. Game is hard enough without pointless turn based first round nerfs for my characters alone.

do you mean like the suprise round at the start of combat in which only one side can act and the other can not?
Aradon Oct 15, 2021 @ 11:45am
If you use a ranged character to initiate the combat with an attack, you'll get the surprise round instead of the opponent, and you'll be able to take a move or standard action with each of your characters before going to full initiative.

Like Aradon said it sounds like you're describing the surprise round. The enemy won't get to act at all during that time, and after that they act according to the initiative order. Basically you are getting one free action over the enemies.

If you mean Daeran, he is staggered during the first round because of his Powerless Prophecy curse.

The thing is, even when enemy gets bonus round at start, they still have full move and action points. A beast ran from afar and hit my character 5 times on battle start in Turn based mode. Something is broken.

This isnt a nerf - its pathfinder mechanics. I would recommend reading up on the rules of the game. Its not broken, he got a surprise round on you. Thus was able to move and do a full round of attacks.

Yep, a “beast” with 5 attacks? Sounds like a Smilodon which have pounce, which lets you make full attacks on a charge. Charges only cost a standard action.

Actually, Charge is a full-round action. During the Surprise Round, however, your characters are allowed to use full-round actions other than full-attack (such as Charge or Summon) as a standard action. I think this is Owlcat's house rule, not something in PnP.

(You can test it if you don't believe me. During the surprise round you can Charge just by using the standard action. Whereas on a normal round Charge consumes a full-action, and you cannot use it if you only have standard action available.)

I certainly have never been allowed to cast a full-round summon during a surprise round, are you sure about this? Looks like you’re right about charge normally being full round action, but the pathfinder rules actually do support it being used as a standard:

“If you are able to take only a standard action on your turn, you can still charge, but you are only allowed to move up to your speed (instead of up to double your speed) and you cannot draw a weapon unless you possess the Quick Draw feat. You can’t use this option unless you are restricted to taking only a standard action on your turn.”
