Yay soooooo sweet on Arueshalae (bi) romance if she ascends from her demonic nature and becomes good, bonus if you are Azata Mythic Path. But she sleep with you whenever you ask if she falls back to being evil demon (and you need to be CN/CE Trickster or Demon).
Then you got big romantic gestures on Daeran (bi).
Artistic and poetry gestures on Sosiel(gay).
Wenduag (bi) submits to the power, then cuteish in last event.
Nope, nope, nope on Camelia (straight), last romance event can be sweetish in its own perverted way.
Normal on Lann (straight).
Non-companion.
"I climbed ladder on Demons path and stayed loyal so gimme" on Nocticula (bi).
Court the Queen Galfrey(bi) if you are of Lawful alignment (she also becomes companion).
Fun one night stand with Socothbenoth (bi) on Trickster.
And then cherries on top. Sacrifice your romance to become Lich or eat them when you become Swarm-that-Walks.
I wouldn't say that's entirely true, but I am increasingly getting the sense that the options are limited in a silly way. Okay, sure, you can't romance Ember cause she's a kid. Makes sense. Nenio probably believes sex is uninteresting. Finnean romance wouldn't make sense. I hear there's no Wolfif romance, and why is that?
It also feels incredibly inorganic, as most of these things do. "Do all my companion quests, and I'll romance you."
most of these games that have romance are rather inorganic, but I enjoy the budding relationship nonetheless. I'm just curious because I'm fresh off of starting act 3 in Baldur's Gate 3 and the romance so far has been...Lackluster...
Games just shove romance down your throat like it's something everyone is constantly looking for.
That said, if a romance is kind of endearing or fits the story, flow of the game then I can enjoy it. It's just most games don't because the devs themselves do not understand romance and they just throw it in there to tick a box: "oh yea we need romance so just have everyone bang everyone." Like in Pillars 2 where everyone is bisexual for some bogus reason. That kind of stuff is just immersion breaking to me.
Baldur's Gate 3 suffers heavily from the last example.
First time as a street kid girl and dated Judy. It was complex and bittersweet, but also painful at the end due to what choices I made. It kind of sucked, but it was part of how it worked so I had peace with that. It felt real. Second time I played as a man as a nomad. choosing to go with Panam and reunite with the Aldecaldos. Think I got the most bang for my buck on that playthrough. The romance was great and fitted the story perfectly including the choices I made. I think it was my favorite playthrough of all of them. https://i.imgur.com/5AVyaHz.png
The romance in Cyberpunk were honestly magical, Judy's was great with the whole diving underwater thing, and after I learned that there was a console command to make it so you could romance Judy as male I went after her immediately. If you want another sweet romance I do recommend Larian's other game, Divinity Original Sin 2. Its the same thing where you do a companions quest and you unlock romance options for them, but the dialog is just so sweet it nearly gave me diabetes.
I would say Wen, Daeran, Lann, Sosiel are like that. They jump on you quickly. Though Wenduag does not do it because of love, but just to get in grace of most powerful being she currently sees.
Camilie is not like that, it is more of "Do you wanna shag? If not, I find somebody else." She also is not keen on you two being serious.
Arue is exactly opposite she does not want to be romanced to avoid draining your life force, because she is scared it would awaken that desire and draw her back to evil.
You have to court Queen too.
