Game won't start (Mac OS)
Why am I posting this on the steam forums? Because Owlcat games seems to offer no real support link on their own website. I have no idea how to contact their technical support or even if they offer any. Oh, there is a support thing that gives useless suggestions, and a forum nobody's reading, but ... again how do I even contact them for support? Look, I guess I will long distance dial Russia if I have to, but sheesh ...

The issue is stark and simple. When I hit "Play" in steam ... the wrath icon appears on the dock, bounces I would say about 20 times, and then nothing. No error message. Just nothing. Nothing happens. BTW: it's weird. Steam shows time played, but the game has never launched. It even shows in the Force Quit launcher ... although it isn't "really" open and has to be Force Quit.

It's not an M1 Mac, it's an Intel iMac, and it's running Mac OS Big Sur 11.5.2.

I have a feeling this is a Permissions thing. BTW, I had to do something whacky from the Terminal just to get Steam to run on this thing. I have a weird feeling that will also be true for this game. Maybe somebody here knows that Terminal command.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, and if you can please tell me how to get actual Technical Support from Owlcat Games that would be spiffy, too. There's a Technical Support forum for Kingmaker, but it seems mostly dead and doesn't appear to actually get developer feedback.

Mac user and long-time IT technical support guy here. First, check this post for info on sending info to Owlcat tech suport: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1184370/discussions/0/3044984779769868405/

Second, it definitely sounds like a permissions issue. My first suggestion would be to follow this page to check and fix disk permissions. Be aware that it can cake more than a few minutes to complete, if there are issues, and once it starts your computer will likely stop responding to input. So, start it running and go to the grocery store or something: https://www.maketecheasier.com/repair-disk-permissions-mac/

Finally, you might need to uninstall Wrath from Steam, reboot your computer, reinstall Wrath, and see if that works better.

Good luck! I'm subscribing to this thread just to see if this works for you.

So, I thought it was the Permissions, and I was right! I did "Get Info" on the Wrath app and made sure to set Permissions to Read & Write for "everyone" and "staff" as well as myself (the admin user). It worked! And yes I am leaving this in case it might benefit another Mac user with the same issue. I found an email for the tech support for Owlcat and sent them a message, but I figured it out on my own.

BTW, one other pro tip. I can tell you especially in the Festival, things in the game slowed to a crawl ... until I lowered the graphics settings and the resolution, and things became bearable. BTW, now that I'm in the caverns I could try and put them back up ... but I think I won't. :=>

Outstanding! I'm glad to hear that you were able to get things working.
