You talking about the one in Leper's Smile? Because that one is an optional fight if I'm not mistaken. The optional fights are really nasty so they aren't a normal encounter.

Honestly had more toruble with the drakni than the retriever lol, that poison's killer.

I mean I killed it but more often or not half my party ended up dead....

This is just borderline spiteful levels of DM encounters.

It's not that hard, I did it on core, you can prebuff before the fight and spam summons. By the time it got them all my archers did most of the work and all that was left was to hit 2 or 3 times.

That ray is the only thing you need to watch out for.

Agreed. I was actually surprised at how quickly the spider went down, since the previous fights were much harder.

The spider did a good amount of damage to my tanks but it went down rather quickly. It was probably the easiest optional boss in my opinion.
